The combination of retractable and fixed landing lights gives me the look in the picture, and it's really very bright. If I turn off one or the other, than it's much easier on the eyes. Would something like this be editable perhaps?

1. Are you using ENB or light bloom on in FSX - that will affect it if so.2. The exact surface that's "under" the lights affects it - it's not real "light" like you get in games like Battlefield or whatever - this works with color blending modes and the effect of the light does change depending on what's behind the "light" - nothing at all we can do about this, what we did is already far beyond what FSX is supposed to be capable of lighting wise.

No, I'm not using ENB nowadays. This screenshot was landing at FT KMDW (my favorite airport), and I was just surprised at the intensity. I understand your explanation, so I'll just land there with fixed only or retractable only, but not both.

I've noticed these super bright lights at FSDT airports, maybe it has to do with how they build the runway?

Maybe they're using some weird combination of blending modes in turn (multi layered textures?), that don't go together well with the light effects. But then again I have zero clue about scenery design, so it's just a rough guess here. But I could very well imagine different blending modes inadvertently mixing up to cause such behavior.

Hi Guys, resurrecting an old thread but I have a similar problem, just wondering if this is related to the same issue of runway design?This is the image I get at FSDT KJFK, I also experience similar psychedelic colours at UK2000's EGGP. I acutally noticed it VERY bright with ALL the lights on, but I love it, gives me chills!
