February 1, 200422 yr hello gentlemen!what a beautiful sunday morning... :) i've just had an idea. maybe somebody had it before, maybe it's just time to rehash it. i claim no copyright.an fs2004 flight exchange. the world is full of amazing locations, there's no way anyone could know all of them, and weather can make the silliest hop an unforgettable adventure. many times, after returning back to earth from a prticularly enchanting flight, i thought, wow, i wish people could see this.so how about a place where each of us could post this one and only FLT-WX pair, for everyone to share in his dream?in order of time and effort required:- if you know of such place, tell us- make this thread sticky, allowing FLT/WX attachments- add a forum to avsim, however great it is already- build a dedicated database (ouch!)i guess things like a short description, a screenshot, and an inventory of scenery, mesh, landclass, textures used, might be helpful but definitely not necessary.what say ye?vilk
February 1, 200422 yr I think an exchange of interesting routes and locations would be a fine idea.Could perhaps better take the form of a database where you could either request a completely random route or location or a random route based on your starting point of choice. That way it could in the end grow into a possibly a good way to make interlinking flights (which I'm starting to like ever more) where the endpoint of one flight is the start of the next.A database format is also a lot easier to search.A description (with possibly included weather data and screenshots) could be added as well similar to the file library today.
February 1, 200422 yr thank you all for the kind reception. :)yes, a flight plan (PLN) might come in handy, especially if the adventure involves a stretch relatively far removed from the origin.thanks again for your support. let's hope we can make this one fly.peace!vilk
February 1, 200422 yr Count me in!Lovely idea. I find myself when (rarely) bored by some IFR flights, making some VFR scenic ones, usualy I browse to some destinations "I know" that will be beautyfull, like British Columbia, Alaska, Washington State, Colorado State, Switzerland, Austria.... And then select acording to the ICAO name the most "weird" airport I can find in the database. It's pure luck! Now with a share database it will be A LOT more easy and enjoyable to select one...
February 1, 200422 yr This is a great idea! I often find myself wondering where I can go to find an interesting new place to fly away from my normal routes. To have a one stop place where I can find everything that I need for a great flight would be heaven. Please do this I would love it!Thanks,Philip Olsonhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpg
February 1, 200422 yr Addition: One of the things I like is to think up long tours (all around the world, pole to pole, that kind of thing). I actually think up a lot more than I have time to fly.Such long routes might also be able to find a place, I know many people are thinking of flying around the world in FS but don't know how to get started.
February 1, 200422 yr I think that's a great idea. I've flown a lot in my part of world and I would be very interested in some sort of airport exhange. A database would be great but even a dedicated forum would be a good start.
February 2, 200422 yr Hi Jan,'Beatus ille qui procul negotiis, ut prisca gens mortalium, paterna rura bubus exercet suis solutus omni faenore'...let me guess, you're not a banker! ...LOLMike
February 2, 200422 yr VilkYou've got a great idea there. I really like flying other peoples flight plans or adventures because you never know what to expect!I definitely hope that this can be implimented.ThanksDavid
