November 15, 201114 yr I have just installed the FSX conversion of Rick Piper's HS748, but I have a problem. The wheels are black. In other words, they do not appear to have any textures. Has anyone else seen this, and is there a solution? On a side note, what are the chances of getting the PMDG Jetstream 4100 VC to work with this plane? I know it isn't accurate, but I prefer to use really high quality VCs with my planes. November 16, 201114 yr Author I have just found a link to a complete package of the FSX HS748. This includes an installer, and it appears to have extra stuff in there that I do not currently have, so I will try this one and see if it solves my wheel texture problem. I would still like to use the PMDG Jetstream 4100 VC if at all possible, but I can't seem to find an interior.mdl file for the HS748 VC...... November 16, 201114 yr Author I don't tend to use all of the fancy systems stuff in FSX planes. I just like hand flying something that feels good, looks good, and sounds good. IMO, Rick's HS748 has a really nice looking 3D model, and superb sound effects (probably the best simulated Rolls Royce Dart engines I have heard). Unfortunately, I also like my VCs to be exceptionally good looking. This is so important to me that I would actually prefer to use a good looking but unrealistic VC to a lower quality accurate version.I know that probably sounds a bit weird to many of you experts, but that's just how I am :( Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
November 16, 201114 yr I expect you know Chris, but FS9 VC's are incorporated into the model file, where as FSX uses the normal model and interior files for VC and thus the actual flight model and VC are compiled separately. Seeing as Rick's model is for FS9 I'm afraid a port isn't possbile....
November 16, 201114 yr Author I didn't know that, Piran. That's a real shame, and a bit of a problem for me.... Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
November 17, 201114 yr Christopher I understand what you mean but consider the rest of the package. Great looks, fantastic sounds, accurate flight dynamics.I tend to takeoff and land the 748 in the VC and cruise in the 2D panel. I know the VC isn't cutting-edge graphics but surely for the purposes of departure and arrival you could put up with it? ;)Regards,Adam
November 17, 201114 yr Author You don't know how fussy I am, Adam I will of course check it out again, just in case... November 17, 201114 yr Christopher just set up a night cargo flight across the UK and revel in those syncronized Rolls Royce Dart engine sounds as they lull you to sleep (well they used to make me fall asleep when I heard the Parcelforce 748 fly over our house at FL100 when I was younger!).Maybe just as well we're flying in a sim;)The World Air Routes DVD on West Air Europe is a good companion for the Rick Piper 748. Lots of in-cockpit "action" featuring the West Air 748's on mail/cargo missions around Sweden. They also use an interesting landing technique (VREF + 10 till threshold then holding off to VREF when they close the throttles and let the aircraft settle on the mains. Also works well in FSX and produces some "greaser" landings). Good luck!Regards,Adam
November 17, 201114 yr Author Well, I really can't live with that VC, so I will concentrate on the PMDG Jetstream 4100 for my turboprop action. It's a more difficult plane to fly, but the quality is second to none.
