Are Simmers just a bunch of whining little panzies?

There is absolutely nothing in the screens, videos or text from Microsoft that even resemble an arcade game. Guess I'm getting old since I still remeber vividly the times when I hung around arcades and played Donkey Kong, Outrun, 1942, Space Invaders and the like...

Sure. From the FAQ:Q:How does “Microsoft Flight” differ from “Flight Simulator?” Why the new name? What’s changed?A:With “Microsoft Flight” we’re approaching the virtual flight genre from the ground up, with the focus on the universal appeal of the experience of Flight. We believe the simplicity of “Microsoft Flight” perfectly captures that vision while welcoming the millions of existing Flight Simulator fans. The new “Microsoft Flight” retains the full fidelity simulation longtime fans have come to expect while offering all players a whole new look and feel, a wide range of new game play and challenges, persistent experiences and social connectivity. Now, could you please show me where it says arcade? Then again, I guess Flight will have plenty of 'gaming' elements to please the newcomers. These can ofcourse be seen as 'arcade'.
First, thanks for reporting.Second, it depends on what MS means for " simulating ". If they mean a Maule where you can manage mixture, aileron and taking off and landing I feel we are far apart because I consider those features pretty obvious.Simulation for me means having a working ATC, a weather management, a flight planner, SID and STARS, a wide scenario maybe not the whole world but at least a continent like Europe, North America etc.., a fully functional ILS, Radios, wind shears, turbolence, wind tail effects, snow, rain, clouds & fog and so on as a very simple base, then a open interface for third parties to add their own products in a fair way.Yes you are right, they used the word " simulation ". It now depends on what MS means vs what a simmer usually means.

Agreed. Even the wide range of new game play and challenges probably have a heavy simulation aspect as well. I bet (not litterally, LOL) this wil consist of missions, just like in FSX, with difficulty levels from beginner to advanced.

I trust Flight will have all the 'simulation' components FSX has, some of them probably improved. The FAQ speaks of retaining the full fidelity simulation longtime fans have come to expect.

I am starting to like you

Having flown real Boeing 737, F-16 and King Air 200 simulators I can tell you that in many respects even FS2004 feels more sofisticated. Simulation is a state of mind, not just a piece of software. My dad was an F-86 pilot and they used a poster with instruments on as a simulator... Having said that, I truly hope Flight is a state of the art flight simulator experience!
