Livery Manager: says can't install a livery because variant not installed

Featured Replies

I am trying to install the Aloha Airlines livery and when I select the variant I'm directed to on the left side of the livery manager, then browse to the livery file and select it, it says the variant isn't installed or something along those lines. What's up on this? I was able to reinstall two liveries I had used prior to SP1, but this new livery won't install. Thanks!Noel

Did you unzip it?
Yes I did. Here's what the message looks like, which pops up after selecting the unzipped .ptp file. The livery install instructions mentions you have to choose the 800NGX WL variant which you can see was selected. If I go into FSX I can select the 800NGX WL indicating it is in fact installed. So to I can operate the Southwest Livery . . .

Noel,Is Aloha a -700?

Best Regards,

I dont see any Aloha Airlines liveries for the NGX on the PMDG site, and the only one I see on AVSIM is for the default FSX 737-800, they are not compatible. Is the one below what you downloaded? If not where did you get it?File Description:Repaint of the default FSX 737-800 in Aloha Airlines 'retrojet' livery. Skins do not use Mip Maps.

Where do you have the Aloha livery from? Maybe it's a 737-600 or -700. Then it wouldn't be compatible with the -800 you've selected.

Well, it came from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?3qtdux7igcjqcb1 And in its installation instructions it says this:Repaint for PMDG 737NGX Winglets in Aloha Airlines coloursBoeing 737-700NGX Aloha Airlines N749AL Winglets for PMDG 737NGXWLInstallation.Use the PMDG Livery Manager to install.1. Unzip the downloaded file to extract the .ptp livery file to a temperary location.2. Start the PMDG Livery Manager3. Select the 800NGX WL in the left panel. <<<<<<<<<< so you can have this variant and it should work!4. Click on the 'Select Livery to Install' button.5. In the window that opens, direct Livery Manager to the .ptp file extracted in step 1 above.6. Livery Manager will then do the rest from there.

It won't work unless you have the 600/700. Ask the developer of that livery if he can make a -800 or else it won't work.

Sadly it won't work. When you have a look at the file you can see that it's a -700 livery.I would say 800NGX is just a spelling mistake. Sorry.
