November 27, 201114 yr I see my processing speed goes up to 50% and up to 90% usage and it shutters alot. I have mostly default scenery and some third party scenery. I am running REX and I found that I get better performance while running REX. I don't have the settings up that high. Even thought my pc isn't that slow. Any ideas?NathanPC Specs,Dell Workstation 4902x Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® 5160 3.0GHz, 1333 FSB, 4MB L2 Cache, 80 watts12 Gigs Mushkin Enhanced Proline DDR2 FB-DIMM ECC Fully Buffered DDR2 667 (PC2 5300)Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi PCI-Express1 Ghz EVGA GTX 560Ti DS Video Card2 Western Digital VelociRaptor WDBACN3000ENC-NRSN 300GB 10000 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/sWindows 7 Ultimate 64bit750 watt power supply2 OCZ Agility 3 AGT3-25SAT3-60G 2.5" 60GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
November 27, 201114 yr Your memory is dreadfully slow. 3 GHz CPU isn't fast enough either. Not really sure you're going to get great performance out of your setup. Tired of Streetlights everywhere? Try MSFS DarkStreets today!

November 27, 201114 yr That's a very unusual spec for a home PC. I thought the Xeon was normally found in commercial use. Is it an ex server or business workstation? November 27, 201114 yr Author Acually,no...Just telling it like it is.. I know! Well I won't be spending anymore time with this resource hog. This version of MFS has cause nothing but problems for people. You have to spend lots of money to get it to run. I have an older pc about 6 to 7 years old and it runs FS9 with very little issuses. And this present pc runs it perfect. Why does a new pc need to be built anytime a new flight sim comes out. The worst of it is you would need to spend about 2,000.00 to get this pig to run okay. I hope Microsoft will clear this issue up with Flight! They say they are but we will see!

The rest of your parts would work just fine. Would probably cost ~500 bucks to do it right. Not sure if that's an option for you or not though. Tired of Streetlights everywhere? Try getting into cars, photography, or playing an instrument. That's where you get into the thousands of dollars spent

November 28, 201114 yr +1 - I have a core 2 duo @ 2.9 and FSX+Acceration with some addons (REX+Overdrive textures & ASE) runs very smooth and fluid. I fly the PMDG747X and the PMDG737NGX with good fluid performance and medium high settings.Art Schwartz, Jr.
