November 29, 201114 yr Well as the title says, here they are:http://www.techspot....ked-slides.html Interesting that no new cores and really no new clock speeds..... Still the new architecture should make up for that.
November 29, 201114 yr Interesting that no new cores and really no new clock speeds..... Still the new architecture should make up for that.IB is an Intel Tock Cycle (die shrink) and thus has the same architecture as SB. What's new is IB is built with Tri-Gate.One improvement IB will offer for FSX (for us Phil Taylor believers in PCIe 2 autgen bottleneck), is PCIe 3 (with 2x the BW of PCIe 2).Cheers,- jahman.
November 29, 201114 yr Thanks Andrew. I have a definite itch for Ivy bridge. It would be great if indeed there could be a 63 multiplier with the i7 3770K! That might mean that it may be fairly easy to reach in the mid to high 50s GHz. Also should fit on present P67 and Z68 1155 socket set boards. We'll see.Kind regards,

November 29, 201114 yr I thought unlocked means there is no limit (within reason, and of course the CPU booting)...Cheers,- jahman.Yup! You are right of course. I was referring to discussions in one of the press releases quoting that Sandy Bridge had a theoretical 57 (5.7Ghz) multiplier possible, whereas Ivy Bridge's is at 63 (6.3Ghz). On a practical level, none can actually do those numbers, but if the Ivy Bridge overhead is bumped by .5, then so perhaps will be the actual speeds possible. Don't you think perhaps so?Kind regards,

November 30, 201114 yr Author With the die shrink we should also be able to achieve better frequency per volt right? If so temps should be much better and we may see this 5GHz been cracked a lot more often. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. November 30, 201114 yr With the die shrink we should also be able to achieve better frequency per volt right? If so temps should be much better and we may see this 5GHz been cracked a lot more often.Absolutely! That's what Tri-Gate is all about.Cheers,- jahman.

Tri-Gate is much more effective at low voltages, may be of little to no use for overclockingThe performance gain goes down as you increase voltage. At 1.3 - 1.4V would be close to 0% theoretically
December 1, 201114 yr ...The performance gain goes down as you increase voltage. At 1.3 - 1.4V would be close to 0% theoreticallyWith Tri-Gate is you will be able to OC at a much lower voltage where the Tri-Gate advantage is significant.Delay is but one factor, residual current is another. Likely Tri-Gate will have lower residual current, so less heat. There are many factors to consider, and all point in Tri-Gate's favour.Cheers,- jahman.

December 1, 201114 yr 3570K/3770K baby. She's all mine. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
