Featured Replies

Hi all,I have just got my new PC whose specifications listed below;i5-2500K,MSI GTX 580 Twin FrozR IIMSI Z68A-GD80 (B3)Geil Enhance 8GB DDR3 1600MHz,Seagate Barracuda 1 TB 7200 RPM 32 MB.I've been testing this computer for 5-6 hours and the frame rates are very low like 20-25, may be down to 5-15 in hard conditions. (Not yet REX installed, only with very high details and NGX, Athens Flytampa.)What might the reason be? I have installed all the drivers, that things..Can someone help me please? Can ACAR

Did you also overclock your processor: this one can do it very easily. Because you have a very good graphic card.By the way, how much memory in graphic card? what version of windows?Patrice.

Windows 7 Ultimate, and 1536MB 384 bit. I've not done the overclock process yet.

Run some benchmarks to see if it's only FSX. That would be the first thing to try I guess. If it's only FSX that's underperforming, FSX/GPU settings would be the first thing to check

I'm leaning toward fsx settings. How high are water & traffic? No need to ever run water any higher than 2xlow. 2xhigh actually causes fsx to render pretty much everything twice, textures, autogen, clouds and aircraft...

Actually, I couldn't get what I expected. I don't know what this reason is, it goes down to 5 fps... It doesn't worth this... please help me with this situation

If you send me your email adress, I can send you my FSX.cfg, this might help a lot. First of all, make sure that there is an FSX.cfg inside C:/Users/[Your Name]/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/FSX. Inside here should be several folders and files, two of them are called FSX.CFG and another called "fsx". If you don't see the fsx file. Just go you Simobjects/Airplanes/[random airplane]. Open the aircraft.cfg, and click Open With... Then choose Notepad. Right now the "fsx" file will be in side C:/.../Appdata/Roaming/Microsoft/FSX. If you see that file, there should now be a Notepad icon next to it. Now send me your email address, I will send you my "fsx" file, now delete yours first, and put mine in there. Start up FSX and see how the performance goes. What is actually your problem? Is your performance 5 fps all the time? Or does it start at around 20-25 and then drop to 5 after a few minutes? If so, your graphics card might be getting too hot. Also a few other tips:1. As MrKen said, DO NOT use water effect MAX 2x, LOW 2x will give your similar "eye candy", but with much much better performance. Also do not put your AI traffic too high. If you have it set to 100%, then my FPS would drop a lot also.and 20-25 fps is not low at all!EDIT: an i5 2500K at stock speed (3.3 GHz), will perform bad in FSX indeed. Make sure you overclock it! If you have a good CPU cooler, (really important to have this!), then overclock your CPU to about 4.5 GHz. You can go to YouTube for some tutorial videos for an i5 2500 on a MSI Z68 motherboard. If the videos has got a lot of "likes", then that means the overclock is probably fine. If I would leave my CPU on stock speed now, on max settings, I would get only 10 fps also. Now I overclocked it, and I'm now getting 20 fps at least everywhere, with the same settings!
