December 6, 201114 yr Before I buy the NGX, I just wanted to make sure my system will be able to handle it well. I have read that it is quite demanding on resources. I have a homebuilt i7-920 2.67 ghz overclocked to 4.0 ghz, GTX-275 1792 mb card, 12 gig DDR3 Corsair ram, and Windows 7 64 bit. FSX runs quite well. Any ideas? Thanks. Tom
December 6, 201114 yr You should have a good experience with theNGX with your specs. My system (see signature) averages 18-40 FPS over Orbx scenery with almost full right sliders. I get down to 13-16 at CYVR with Orbx PNW region. 16-20 at Aerosoft's PANC and Flight Beams KSFO. PMDG j41, 747-400x, 747-8i/f, NGX.......Finally!!!!
December 6, 201114 yr And you will get probably around 40-50 stable when on default scenery. December 6, 201114 yr Hi Tom..It runs on my 'old' system quite well.I'm running a Core 2 Duo E6700 2.67GHz with Vista 64-Bit and I'm extremely pleased (and very surprised) at this system's performance with the NGX.I consider that PMDG have done a superb job.I'm getting 18-20 fps in the air with the VC. I'm getting down to 7-10 fps on the approach to EHAM in the tutorial. All sounds are brilliant. I'm also running FS Commander moving map on a second monitor on this same system. It also runs very well with using the UK2000 Manchester and Liverpool airports - again without any major problems. I did suffer CTD's on startup until I installed the two patches.Make sure that you are using ******* Bogote's FSX.cfg util - it made one huge difference on this system. I got about 5-7 more fps after the cfg file was processed.Best of luck.RegardsBill i7-3770K 4.2GHz, 16GB, GTX 970 4GB, Win 7 64bit, LG 38GL950G, CH Yoke/Pedals, T.16000M, GenX UK, UK2000 EGGP & EGCC, AeroSoft Gibraltar, FSC 9.5, FSL A320X, 737NGX A318/A319/A320/A321, A2A Cherokee/JF Hawk T1/Dino's EF2000, Iris Grob Tutor

December 6, 201114 yr Author Thanks for the help, guys. That's good news.Bill, you mention Bojote's Tweaking Tool. It just so happens that I just ran the tweaker myself and so far it seems to have improved my setup also. Do you happen to know what exactly goes in the Cores/Threads spot in the hardware specs before running the tweaker? Since I have a 4-core i7 I selected 8 for the entry since I'm showing 8 graph divisions in my Task Manager window due to hyperthreading. Thanks again. Tom

TomHi Tom...No - I haven't really looked into 'why' it works. No doubt there are experts who can explain what does what. Why not ask ******* yourself - he can probably tell you more than most. All I know is that it works for me.Must go - my dog wants me to take him out. What is that you are saying, Rover ? I haven't taken you out since 'that' 737NGX came out ?RegardsBill i7-3770K 4.2GHz, 16GB, GTX 970 4GB, Win 7 64bit, LG 38GL950G, CH Yoke/Pedals, T.16000M, GenX UK, UK2000 EGGP & EGCC, AeroSoft Gibraltar, FSC 9.5, FSL A320X, 737NGX A318/A319/A320/A321, A2A Cherokee/JF Hawk T1/Dino's EF2000, Iris Grob Tutor
December 10, 201114 yr Author Thanks again, Bill. I would like to ask ******* himself, but I don't know what address to use. I tried using the "Automated Tweaking and TuningTool for FSX" thread in the Avsim FSX Forum but have not gotten a response. As a matter of fact there have been a few posts since mine wondering where ******* is too. I know what you mean about your dog. I have three myself. Thanks. Tom
December 10, 201114 yr Those settings tell the tweaker how to set your affinity mask, which determines which cores are used by fsx. Fsx has a fiber thread which is always on the first core regardless of am setting, but disabling the first will shift the main thread over to the second core, leaving any other available cores to be used as texture loaders. Doing this spreads the fsx load and also frees up a good deal of the first core for other processes which may need to run on it by default. For more information there was a big discussion on hyperthreading & fsx here in the ngx forum a while back.Edit: youll want to enter the correct numbers for your pc. Inputting the wrong number will result in the wrong affinity mask setting which could potentially hurt performance.
