December 6, 201114 yr I get the following everytime I start up FSX :Scenery.CFG file error. Remote scenery directory () in scenery not found. What is it saying?RichardHi Richard:This FSX SDK doc might help explain the basics:http://msdn.microsof...y/cc526966.aspxFor example (since that doc gives no 'example' for the "RemotePath" feature), if you have installed scenery to a removable drive or slower drive, and you want to "cache" that scenery content on your (hopefully faster) C: drive in the auxiliary FSX system folders, FSX will do this either temporarily or permanently... depending on whether or not you tell FS to "clean" the Scenery Cache on exit. Ex: On my Windows XP Pro 32-bit FSX installation, the Remote scenery cache is at:C:Documents and SettingsAll Users.WINDOWSApplication DataMicrosoftFSXSceneryCacheThus, in your case, if you disconnected or removed a drive, or moved a scenery package somewhere ...and forget to then go into the FS Scenery Library GUI and use "Edit Area" to update the new path to that scenery package's new location (by re-browsing and saving the new location), you might see the type of message you cited above. Hope this helps ! GaryGB
December 7, 201114 yr I get the following everytime I start up FSX :Scenery.CFG file error. Remote scenery directory () in scenery not found. What is it saying?RichardGaryGB's link is great (thanks!) but in essence the error message is saying it can't find that particular scenery on your disk.To get rid of that warning message you need to go into the scenery library editor, locate the scenery triggering the error and either:Fix the path so it again points to the scenery directory, or Disable that particualr scenery, or Delete that scenery entrey in your library configuration. Cheers,- jahman.
December 7, 201114 yr Both interesting replies, but it begs the question how was the entry created? As far as I am aware, there are only two ways to add a remote path.1. Cache this scenery in Library Settings[Area.419]Title=AvonmouthActive=TRUERequired=FALSELayer=190Remote=I7sceneryAvonmouth2. Directly by an add-on scenery installer.Check for recently added scenery.GeorgeEdit. BTW, it is not a useful error display, they could easily have identified which area was causing the problem.
December 7, 201114 yr I just fixed this yesterday on my FSX installation! Here is the thread I found for the fix.http://www.simforums...topic37718.htmlWhen you get done your Scenery Library - Addon Scenery page should look like this:*Look In* = Flight Simulator X*Directory* = Addon Scenery*Scenery Area Title* = Addon Scenery
