Create SIDs & STARs

Featured Replies

Hey all !With a friend, we have just started to create a fictional airport somewhere in Australia and we'd like to create some SIDs and STARs but we don't know how to do :( We have already added the airport and the runways in the FMC database but how could we do to do the same for the SIDs/STARs ?Any help would be much appreciated :)Best regards,Sam

If you go into the PMDG folders in your FS directory, I think there are two files in there for SIDS and STARS (or there's one file containing both - I forget). If you look at a real chart and then compare the output in the .txt file, you'll start to see how it's formatted. From there, use the known example to create your own. This could also be of some help:http://www.fsrunway.it/modules/Uploads/Uploads/ashaman/tutorial%20sid%20e%20star%20PMDG%20ENG.pdf

There are two areas that need modified to add a fictional (or closed) airport. Navdata files airport.dat and wpNavAPT.txt need to have airport data entered and secondly but not mandatory you need a sidstar file IF you want to have any terminal procedures such as approaches, departures or STAR arrivals. The navdata files are decoded in a old pmdg wiki article that I wrote and Ryan moved to the knowledge base but the formatting is lost and makes it difficult but not impossible to decifer and sidstar files are explained in a tutorial written by Terry Yingling and can be found in the download section at the pmdg web site (keep looking its there). Hope this helps

You will probably need to add waypoints to your afcad as well, at least if youre going to use non existant waypoints for your arrivals / departures. There are two methods, one using your afcad editor software like ADE, the other method is using an XML file along with bglcomp.exe. How to do the xml file method is explained in the FSX SDK documentation under the 'Environment Kit->BGL Compiler SDK' section
