December 16, 201114 yr Ya I pick up the airport vehicle traffic and stuff as well. They're simobjects like anything else so I don't know how you could inhibit their indications without turning TA off. Patrick Houghton

December 16, 201114 yr I have flown into lots of places that had boats on the water. They never showed up on TCAS. Very Strange. All U.S. Navy ships are equipped with transponders which operate in the same frequency range, and using the same code format as aircraft transponders - with the exception that the shipboard units do not transmit any altitude data. I believe that naval SOP is to insure that the transponders are switched off when a vessel is at anchor in port, but they are normally turned on whenever a ship is moving. There are many recorded instances of naval shipboard transponders showing up as false targets on aircraft TCAS displays. Especially near airports located in places with a large concentration of navy vessels, like San Diego and San Francisco.Other than that, civilian ships should not show up on TCAS. There is another type of maritime "transponder" system carried by many mid to large sized merchant ships, but that system is completely different than what is used in aviation. December 16, 201114 yr I wonder if this quote from the PMDG introduction may explain why not everyone is "seeing boats":"Other Traffic (TCAS): This toggle allows you to choose whetherTCAS only shows you proximate traffic (realistic) or shows you alltraffic in your vicinity"Maybe setting realistic could solve your problem.
