December 19, 201114 yr Author Sorry I worded my last question wrong. At the place I had my computer looked at, thats when the smoke started. they told me. they were able to turn the computer on, but it immedietely started smoking so they shut it off and were unable to fix it. So i took it down to a local computer shop and the problem is being diagnosed right now. I really hope it is just the PSU and not something more expensive to replace like the mobo or cpu. ~Spencer HoeferMOBO: Gigabye Aorus z590 elite | CPU: Intel i9-10900k | RAM: GSKILL RIPJAWS 32GB DDR4 3200 |GPU: Nvidia RTX 2080Ti 11GB| OS: Windows 10
December 19, 201114 yr Aren't you glad you bought that Geek Squad support (they can't fix it is never the answer you want to hear). Sorry to hear of those troubles of yours! Good luck. December 19, 201114 yr Author Aren't you glad you bought that Geek Squad support (they can't fix it is never the answer you want to hear). Sorry to hear of those troubles of yours! Good luck.Well i took to Fry's Electronics instead. I figure since the are more of a computer store. I will get a more definative answer. And like I said. I hope it is just a simple part like the psu to replace. ~Spencer HoeferMOBO: Gigabye Aorus z590 elite | CPU: Intel i9-10900k | RAM: GSKILL RIPJAWS 32GB DDR4 3200 |GPU: Nvidia RTX 2080Ti 11GB| OS: Windows 10
December 20, 201114 yr Author alright it turns out the psu was fine. it was a bad motherboard. it is now in the process of being replaced. ~Spencer HoeferMOBO: Gigabye Aorus z590 elite | CPU: Intel i9-10900k | RAM: GSKILL RIPJAWS 32GB DDR4 3200 |GPU: Nvidia RTX 2080Ti 11GB| OS: Windows 10

December 21, 201114 yr Author Well... Not to bad... At least you can easily get back up and flying again! :DI hope so. I hope it wasnt the overclocking that fried the board. If so Im sure not gonna o'clock again ~Spencer HoeferMOBO: Gigabye Aorus z590 elite | CPU: Intel i9-10900k | RAM: GSKILL RIPJAWS 32GB DDR4 3200 |GPU: Nvidia RTX 2080Ti 11GB| OS: Windows 10
December 21, 201114 yr I hope so. I hope it wasnt the overclocking that fried the board. If so Im sure not gonna o'clock againThat is false cause. Just because you board fried doesn't mean you have to be afraid of overclocking.... Nonsense......
December 21, 201114 yr Author That is false cause. Just because you board fried doesn't mean you have to be afraid of overclocking.... Nonsense......well just for future measures. what are the things I should watch for to prevent damage to the computer from o'cing? ~Spencer HoeferMOBO: Gigabye Aorus z590 elite | CPU: Intel i9-10900k | RAM: GSKILL RIPJAWS 32GB DDR4 3200 |GPU: Nvidia RTX 2080Ti 11GB| OS: Windows 10

I'm not familiar with your mobo but you should research it thoroughly before any OC and know what and how it could become damaged when changing each and every setting.I know that seems a bit obvious, but hey, it's true. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules

The new mobo Im replacing it with is the ASUS P8P67 EVO, and from what I've heard its a good board and it o'clocks nicely. the only thing is my chip is a very voltage hungry chip. it takes quite a bit of voltage to stabilize o'clock. (as you can see in my signature. ~Spencer HoeferMOBO: Gigabye Aorus z590 elite | CPU: Intel i9-10900k | RAM: GSKILL RIPJAWS 32GB DDR4 3200 |GPU: Nvidia RTX 2080Ti 11GB| OS: Windows 10
December 21, 201114 yr well just for future measures. what are the things I should watch for to prevent damage to the computer from o'cing?Just make sure you research your CPU and mobo etc. Make sure that you are not pushing the voltages to high causing a potential failure. As long as you keep the temps down and voltages within safe range, there is nothing wrong with overclocking.
December 21, 201114 yr Author Ok yay! the computer is fixed and the new mobo is installed. Now that that is out of the way I want to rule out what may have ruined the last board or if it was just a dud.1.) Motherboard burned from overclocking? eh. I dont think so the processor was fine.2.) Power surge? I dont remember seeing one. (except for the lights downstairs flicker sometimes)3.) Static shock? ~Spencer HoeferMOBO: Gigabye Aorus z590 elite | CPU: Intel i9-10900k | RAM: GSKILL RIPJAWS 32GB DDR4 3200 |GPU: Nvidia RTX 2080Ti 11GB| OS: Windows 10
