December 18, 201114 yr Does anyone know of a US airline livery for the 600? I don't care if the airline does not fly it. I would really like to see a US Air livery! Thanks.Bobp :) Bob Prince
December 19, 201114 yr I am with you on this one! I mentioned this a while back and got a backlash of people telling me it was fictional and lacked realism....I say its a game, and I just wanna fly the 600 in some US airline schemes! People here have created 600 BBJ and liveries for carries in the 600, 700 , and 800 models, some of which only fly one of the 3! I would definitely like to see this happen!!-Dan Burke-
December 19, 201114 yr The 600 flies great.. Like Dan says, I made it my BBJ.. Otherwise, I'd never get a chanceto fly it. :(I run the Southwest 700 85-90% of the time.. But I still take a walk on the other sidesevery once in a while. I flew United 1672 from Houston Bush to San Diego Lindberghlast night in the 900.I use the 600 BBJ mostly late at night when most of the airlines have gone to sleep. And I like that it lets me run routes that I wouldn't do running the usual airline routes.Smaller airports with shorter runways, etc.. I'll fly the 600 into places like Hot Springs AR..I'd never see that airport running the Southwest routes, although Little Rock is prettycommon for me when playing Southwest buoy.. :/ Mark Keith
December 19, 201114 yr Hummm.. I could zip the texture directory up, but you would have to addthe entry into the 600 aircraft.cfg file manually.. I'm not sure how to compressit to a livery manager capable file.Also.. I have only rendered the 1024 res textures for that plane. I neverdid the hi-res versions as I use the smaller ones to save memory load.Actually, it still looks OK with the 1024 files I think.. It's not a drastic reductionvs the higher res textures. And I really don't spend a whole lot of timelooking at the exterior anyway.. :/Also.. the paint job is not too fancy at this point. I just slapped one togetherquick to have one to use.. I modified the Janet plane for this, and also.. I haven'tdone the night textures yet.. I forgot about them when I first did it.So you will see a slight reddish tint in front of the engines at night..Not hugely noticeable, but I should fix it.. I'm lazy.. :/I'll probably do other versions when I get around to it.Here is what I have now..http://home.comcast.net/~disk300/600bbj.zipI'd unzip to a new directory. Copy the texture folder to the PMDG 737-600NGXfolder. Open the aircraft.cfg in the zip and copy the text and then paste it below thelast installed aircraft in the actual 600 aircraft.cfg file. Note the [fltsim.?] number of thelast installed 600 version you have. When you paste the BBJ version below that last version you already have, replace the "?" in the BBJ section with the next higher number..IE: if the last one you have now says, [fltsim.1], number the BBJ [fltsim.2]..And so on..Also.. the N number I set on the paint as N889HN.But.. for some reason FSX doesn't want to use a number that long inthe ATC description part, so I just use N89HN for ATC purposes.Back up your original aircraft.cfg file just to be on the safe side.Like I say, nothing too fancy at this point. Any problems getting it going, let me know.. Like I say, back up your aircraft.cfg.. Better safe than sorryif something gets goofy. And if you don't number the entry correctly, itwon't show up in the sim. You have to replace the ? with the valid number. Here are a couple of snapshots so you can decide if you want it or notbefore you go to too much trouble. Mark Keith
December 19, 201114 yr Thanks! I've been looking for something to fly the 600 with for a while now. BBJ's are my fav. Thank you!
December 19, 201114 yr Janet, they fly for the US government shuttling workers back and forth from Area 51 and Las Vegas. I believe the repaint is available, although they aren't much to look at. All white with a red stripe down the side. The aircraft they operate are ex Air China 737-600s. They used them to replace the old 737-200s they used to operate.
December 19, 201114 yr Author Thanks for the replies! Perhaps one of the talented artist will create one. PMDG will not since US Air does not have any? It is great plane for small regional airports too bad it is not being supported. Bobp Bob Prince
December 20, 201114 yr I would really like to see some of the US carries that fly -500's painted for the -600. IE - Southwest, continental to name the two I know of. I know the classic certainly isn't the NGX, but it would still be nice!

December 20, 201114 yr toook it up; for 5 minute flight and everything worked fine, nothing fancy dancy but does the job and we need some 600's so all in all NM5k fine job man, could always dress it up a bit later, will try it our for a short haul later tonight, and dowloaded and put it in the folder manually just like we used to do setting up a texure file folder and then going into the cfg and giving that number for example I belive mine was 7 . thanks a lot Ronnyalso saw it in the delivery manager as welll too double check

Personally I ended up creating my own fictional airline and own livery because I didn't really find an European operator running the aircraft types and routes I'd like to fly.Main thing is: the operation of the aircraft itself must be as real as it gets. And that's what we have with the NGX. Dave P. Woycek
December 20, 201114 yr Glad no problems.. I'll try to cook up something a little better before too long.Haven't totally decided what yet though. I think I want to add a bit more blueto the white and gold, and also maybe something a little better for the tailthan just the stripe. Not sure if I should modify/block any of the windowsor not.. Being as there are no Boeing built 600 BBJ's, I just gotta go bysense of smell I guess. :/At this point, I did it like one likely would if they bought an existing airliner, and converted it to a BBJ. So I left all the windows intact. Note that I sortof rigged it up like an older one with the eyebrow windows. At first I usedthe older MCP, but I decided to go with the Collins later as I generallyprefer it over the Honeywell. But I use the analog back up instruments.I like the way that plane feels when hand flying.. Not quite as slipperyon the approaches as the winglet models, and has sort of a "Classic"737 feel to it. I guess about like a 500, being as both are pretty much the same size.I used to fly the 500 a lot with older sim versions and planes.Usually Southwest paint naturally.. :/Southwest still keeps their 500's pretty busy. I see a lot of themgoing to and fro from Hobby. From the outside, not much different visually from a 600.They still have more classics than NG's by a pretty good margin. Mark Keith
December 26, 201114 yr They still have more classics than NG's by a pretty good margin.Seems this is not true according to another count I just saw..For some reason I was thinking they still had a lot more 300's than700's, but seems this is not the case.According to one count that says Dec 2011, they have 170 300's,and 370 700's. Sez they have 25 of the 500's.According to that list, they have ordered 73 800's and just putin a firm order for 150 of the 737 MAX, and I saw another article thatsaid they could end up ordering up to 208 of them I think..So I guess they do have more NG's than Classics..I guess a lot of the 300's come into Hobby, as it almost seems like theyhave more 300's come through there than 700's judging from Flightaware.
