February 12, 200422 yr Took the plunge and purchased it yesterday... Purchase was easy--no sooner did I complete the purchase, than I had my email and download link... Now I've never flown a 1900, so I wouldn't know how it handles from a pilot's view. But I've flown many times in them, more than any other type of commuter aircraft. Just like you get used to a boat in the waves, you begin to learn the feel of an aircraft. Anyway I love the dynamics of it--it's one of the few aircraft I have flown "as is" without tweaking. Whether in FS2002 or FS2004, it handles really well.Visuals are top notch--dynamic shine is used well. The cockpit looks nice--it uses many default gauges which is one of the reasons dev. time seemed so quick and cost is low on this aircraft... Confusing to many is the fact that there are three different models--one with only a 2-d cockpit, one with a V/C, and one with a V/C and cabin. It makes the aircraft scalable for one's system, although I find even the full blown version doesn't hit my performance that much, even in COF... Dynamic wing views are included in all three models... Bravo PMDG! It's great to see commercial designers that understand that dynamic wing views don't kill fps... They certainly add to the realism when checking your wings for icing :) Also, the "dirty" look to the wings is outstanding. It really adds to the impression of the 1900 as being a "bus with wings"...Only quibble, which is minor, is that the virtual cabin/cockpit windows are too dark as shading is applied to the inside of the windows. Anyone who has ever looked inside a dark tinted window from the outside will notice that from the inside you don't notice the tinting much. That is especially true in the 1900, which from a pax perspective is pretty dang bright inside.... When I design windows on my projects, I either lighten or eliminate altogether the shading on the interior windows to simulate this effect better. From the outside, the windows seem right on... Many designers make them too light, PMDG seems to have them perfect...There's many comments about commercial MSFS aircraft adding so much cost, that the collection of add-ons costs more than the sim itself. But there's some aircraft that I think are a must. I have to say, both COF and FS2002 without the 1900 just aren't complete now, IMHO... The 1900 is a "must" purchase if you like the middle ground between light GA and heavy iron....I hope to follow this post with screenshots soon...Great Job PMDG!!!!-John
February 12, 200422 yr I'm really liking it as well. It is even better when using the Reality-XP Jetline2 gauges in place of the default one. I personally like the way they kept everything simple and inexpensive, then we have the option to add whatever elements we want to on our own. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
February 12, 200422 yr I just completed a nice flight from Miami to Key West in the PMDG B1900D. I love this plane, exactly the right thing for short flights with some nice VOR and NDB navigation. There are so many interesting flights between the big international airports and smaller back country airfields.

February 13, 200422 yr I bought it last night too. I've run every version of Flight Simulator ever produced, including on a Timex Sinclair computer. I had downloaded scores of planes for FS2002. I told myself FS2004 would be different, that I would go for quality rather than quantity, become a master of a couple of planes rather than a novice in all of them. But, these great planes keep coming out and I can't resist.I just got FS2004 for Christmas and I've already bought the Dreamfleet Archer, Dreamfleet Cardinal, Carenado Bonanza, FSD Piper Navaho, and now the PMDG Beech 1900D. I've also purchased Ultimate Traffic and the FSGenesis mesh for the whole USA and the landclass. You gotta love it! :)Jim
February 13, 200422 yr If I can humbly offer one little bit of advice...slow down. All these airplanes deserve attention and some enjoyment on their own. After awhile I suspect you'll do what I did and find about 5 airplanes of various sizes that you'll choose to "own" and will fly with great regularity. You'll have other favorites you visit less often, then a bunch of planes you just downloaded because they lookedcool... Myself, I personally fly the default c172, the DF177 cardinal, the F1 C421 Golden eye,The Maule, the Dr400 Robin, the SF260 (sometimes), as well as some heavies. Typically, I dont go for the military birds (in this sim), as well as the ultra big birds (777/747/A330/A340) because the flights are longer than I enjoy.I suspect you will develop a personal style which suits your level of enjoyment. Choose a handful of ac you are prepared to learn expertly. Once you do, your enjoyment of FS9 will go up dramatically.Best, eric AND
February 13, 200422 yr Just a note on the windows - the Beeches I've flown on have darkly tinted passenger windows. Smokey would be the word. I think they are pretty accurately rendered in the model.
February 14, 200422 yr If anyone is interested, I posted 49 real B1900D flights plans in the flight plan forum. One several of them are in and out of Key West.Bruce
February 14, 200422 yr I bought the 1900 a few days ago also and I have mixed feelings about it. I like the model. Very well done and it looks amazing. The VC is a big hit on the old frame rates, even with a 9800Pro. All in all I think I would have passed on this purchase. It is very simple to operate which is good for a quick "get in and go" type of flight. I think hand flying it is hard. I don't know how the real one handles but I can't imagine like this one. Just my thoughts. I am looking forward to their 744, but I am hesitant. I think if the guys that did 767PIC were coming out with a 744PIC then I would go nuts. But, I hope PMDG prove me wrong.
February 14, 200422 yr Hi there, It sure is a fun aircraft. The other great thing is that you don't have to do a lot of pre-flight - loading the aircraft, loading the FMC etc. You just get in and fly!!!
February 14, 200422 yr Agree with Bob, this plane is a pleasure to fly by hand! I've done lots of flying with the B1900 during the last days and I really enjoy it, perfect for those who don't have hours for a flight ...VOlker :]
