December 23, 201114 yr I looked for a way to do it a long time ago! What I found in the SDK was ONE usable variable dealing with clouds; "AMBIENT IN CLOUD".I couldn't find any way via the SDK to "look ahead" at environmental data.I'm pretty sure a Weather RADAR, beyond just dummying up a display, will require a series of simconnect queries into the sim.If there is an app available to accurately find the location of clouds, high winds, and rain, I'm not aware of it.Not knowing simconnect, or, "C" for that matter, ended my attempt before it got started...Don
December 23, 201114 yr Moderator It cannot be done. Period. There is no functionality in FS to create an accurate "weather radar" at all, not even via C++ gauge or SimConnect. Clouds are randomly drawn in 3d space... :( Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

December 25, 201114 yr Those are FAKE "radar" displays... No, you cannot access them via XML either. Thanks for the clarification Bill. That's that then! I can fake it just like the pay2play folks too!...DonMerry Christmas
December 25, 201114 yr Commercial Member FS doesn't provide enough weather information to develop an even remotely accurate weather radar. Anyone who provides a weather radar that is accurate has most definitely hacked into FS itself. Ed Wilson Mindstar AviationMy Playland - I69
December 26, 201114 yr Fake or not Reality-XP's weather radar depicts what I see in front of my cockpit windows. I also use PT's Groza Radar which I like very much.....both very much more than the usual fake weather radars. IMHO :( My FS Videos
December 26, 201114 yr Commercial Member And yet the facts remain the same... FS itself doesn't provide (legally) enough information to create an accurate weather radar... thus if they're "accurate"... they broke the rules, the law... etc and hacked their way into FS to accomplish.
