Win 7 64bit. which makes it easier to share folders, right? since im ona homegroup and this pc im on now is the server...so i was thinking, firewalling these ports shouldnt be a problem, for homegroups, right?thats interesting, i didnt realise i had to install sp1a and sdk sp2... the guide doesnt mention sdk sp2 (only sp1a) thats why i was confused, and maybe this is the step where im going wrong, not installing sdk sp2?see the user guide below, it only mentions sp1aFSX Deluxe version ONLY (standard does not include the SDK or required simconnect client installation files) FSX Service Pack 1 (or later) update applied (http://www.fsinsider.com) FSX SDK installed from FSX Deluxe Disk 1 (SDK folder setup.exe) FSX SDK SP1A (or later) update applied (http://www.fsinsider.com)I will give this a go now and see if those files appear... lets hope so for mysake eh

I already had the SP2 applied to my SDK, so I can't say for sure but I would think that SP1A would have had these files in the same location. As far as sharing, if both your client and server machines are in the same homegroup in Win7, then you should have no problems between the two.

Hi, tohughes76, I have installed SDK SP2, and i have Simconnect files in the simconnect sdk / lib folder and config folder.so whats next, do i copy those files etc...in to the folders of microsoft x files & roaming / ms / fsx etc...can you clarify what I am pulling across: -SimConnect.cfg - C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator X SDKSDKCore Utilities KitSimConnect SDKconfig (am i copying the whole folder? or one file in particular...i dont see ini files, i have xml docs, simconnect.cfg / simconnect configuration settings and simconnect xml doc....which one the ini, is this short for something else?)SimConnect.msi- C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator X SDKSDKCore Utilities KitSimConnect SDKlib )whats MSI - MS installer....egc i see simconnect windows installer....is that it? if so, do i copy this MSI to one of the folders below? and then install? i just need clarification and i think im gona be good this time....SimConnect.xml- C:UsersTimAppDataRoamingMicrosoftFSXSimConnect.ini- C:UsersTimDocumentsFlight Simulator X Files

Dont copy the whole folder, just the files themselves.-Copy the .xml file from the SDK to your appdata/roaming/microsoft/fsx folder (server pc), then edit as described above-Copy the .ini file from the SDK config folder to your Documents/flight simulator x files folder (server pc), then edit as per page 90 of the user guide.-Copy the .msi file from the SDK lib folder directly to your client PC, location of your choice and run it just like you would an executable file-Copy the .cfg file from the SDK folder and place in your My Documents folder on the client PC. Edit the values of the [simConnect] entry with the same values you used in the .xml file. After that, continue with the test as described in page 91 of user guide...you should be good to go.If you run into issues after that, start a new topic in the Hi Fi commercial forum here on AVSIM so the developers can help out as well. Hope that helps-Good luck and have a great holiday!
