PMDG Dash 8
I agree with CPARROTT73 - and hope they do decide to make a 757 / 767 in NGX quality. My god, wouldnt that be a dream if they could. Although, keeping my ear to the ground, i heard that they're considering Airbus. Not sure how true that information is, but i guess we'll find out in good time. ds

PMDG Dash 8
Yes, tried majestic dash 8 many months before release. I was one of their beta testers since jan 2013 to test the model. Very good model for sure, and flight dynamics are realistic. My curiosity was with the pmdg and their old topics or plans for upcoming aircraft. As we all know, they're keeping cards close to their chest, and we already know of 777 and 747 soon to be released. However, there are two projects that they are not commenting on, and I'm curious to figure out of dash 8 perhaps is still on the cards, despite limited intel / info on this topic. Pmdg, can you shed some light on this area for us all? Ds

PMDG Dash 8
Also: PMDG DHC-8: The initial product in the PMDG Dash-8 series will include the -200/300 series airplanes. This product is being developed by the same team that produced our PMDG BAe JS4100, and will be along the same quality level. This product is expected to fit into the release schedule someplace between the 737NGX and the 777. Is there an update to this post from pmdg's website ... And if not, can we expect dash8 before 777 ? Ds

PMDG Dash 8
Evening everyone. Can anyone (perhaps someone from pmdg) shed any light on the upcoming plans for the dash 8? Watching the video posted on pmdg's page reference: 747800 demonstrates plans / dates around expected / upcoming developments, that are a little old. I remember seeing the dash8 planned for 2011. Much focus right now is on the 777 (and quite rightly so, we're all anticipating this beautiful bird) along with the 747 v2. However, I'm wondering if this dash8 is still in the pipeline to being complete and if there are some revised timelines now that I believe the 777 is on its final round up for release. :-) Thanks in advance for anticipated reply's. ds

PMDG 777: How realistic will it be?
Hi PMDG - I'd like to ask "What settings / Joystick configuration are you using / suggesting that will align nicely with the feel of the 777"? There are many configurations as I'm sure everyone would agree with, e.g. sensativity v's null zones etc...i'd like to know what ones the PMDG team are using so we can also set our FSX settings to the same and replicate that feel you talk about in this forum. Best, Darryl

NEW! CYYZ Toronto Pearson
Hi everyone. REF: CYYZ Airport - I am the guy who started the ball rolling on this. I live near Toronto airport, and after 6 months of chipping away with the GTAA airport Authority, I managed to get airside, and took over 850 HD pictures for this project. Whils't I can not divulge any more information at this time, all I will say is that Toronto Airport is being created as we speak. More to come in the next few months. This should be a project to watch and buy once it's done, as the details I took and have paid close attention to - for example: Winter Operations: Icing bays, dont get utilized on VATSIM, i paid close attention to things like this, and when it's in full swinging action - I bet it will be used for winter OPS more and more. Also, MonTreal by FlyTampa is another to watch out for. Some good canadian sceneries to be released soon. Darryl

Win 7 64bit. which makes it easier to share folders, right? since im ona homegroup and this pc im on now is the server...so i was thinking, firewalling these ports shouldnt be a problem, for homegroups, right?thats interesting, i didnt realise i had to install sp1a and sdk sp2... the guide doesnt mention sdk sp2 (only sp1a) thats why i was confused, and maybe this is the step where im going wrong, not installing sdk sp2?see the user guide below, it only mentions sp1aFSX Deluxe version ONLY (standard does not include the SDK or required simconnect client installation files) FSX Service Pack 1 (or later) update applied (http://www.fsinsider.com) FSX SDK installed from FSX Deluxe Disk 1 (SDK folder setup.exe) FSX SDK SP1A (or later) update applied (http://www.fsinsider.com)I will give this a go now and see if those files appear... lets hope so for mysake eh

Also, simconnect.xml and simconnect.ini - where are they and what do they look like? i dont have them in the app data folders and mydoc folders it suggests? should i be installing some other files to get the simconnect...even after sdk install...i dont understand why i dont see the simconnect files, after a sdk install, the only files i see are in ms fsx sdk folder, where theyre templates i think...should i copy those in to the respective folders, or can this be done and modified accordingly?agh man - this is frustrating, listen - to all thats helping on this post, i appreciate your help on this, i can appreciate your frustrations also, when explaining, please know i am really trying to understand this, and even though it easy for some , its not always easy for others. Please be patient with our questions, i know some seem out there, and as though we have read the manual, but i can assure you thats not the case, i just need some extra clarity on how this whole setup works. thanks to eveyrone helping in this post. ds

Active SKY 2012 and ASE
HI "tohughes76" - thanks for the above, it's becomming clearer, but one question:when i type in those digits on the Simconnect.cfg - on the SERVER, do i use that SAME config on the CLIENT PC, eg, the same ip and port numbers , or do i need to change the IP on the CLIENT to the IP on that pc (ie: different from the one on server)also, when i installed sp1a, i stopped there, was i meant to install sp2 for for sdk also? When i installed sp1a, it removes the GMAX folder from SDK and i dont find all the simconnect.xml and ini files that it says should be in the folders where its supposed to be, perhaps I am doing a step wrong?I install FSXThen i install SP1Then I install SP2Then i install SDK - Then i install SP1a - then, it all goes '** up' from there...

Active SKY 2012 and ASE
Hi Bob, thanks for the above, i appreciate you spending some time on this.Your comments are fair, and perhaps i didnt spend enought time thinking this thing through - I will revisit this now and let ya know which step im failing at. One question about the below: When it shows the SERVER details as example below, with the IP suggestive - where do i find the IP address for my for my server...Under: NETWORK SHARING CENTRE - LOCAL AREA connection - NETWORK CONNECTION DETAILS ...there's many in there, such as IPv4 Address and IPv4 DHCP Server address etc...which one do i use ? ( and these are taken from the server right?_SimConnect.xml: The values for Protocol, Address and Port must be modified. The other values should be left default. For Protocol, IPv4 should be used. Example: <Protocol>IPv4</Protocol> For Address, use either the computer name or the physical IP address of this SERVER. Example: <Address>192.168.1.102</Address> One final question on installation of FSX Deluxe - after installation do i installFSX SP1 and SP2 and then SDK or SDK SP1Aor go straight in to SDK after install and then SP1A...the doc wasnt quite clear and i noticed the version numbers were out when i did sp1a ..etc...

Active SKY 2012 and ASE
hi there, thanks for coming back to me so quickly - i have the exact doc in pdf and have followed it to the T - so far, i feer there is some ambiguity, as it talks about copying simconnect after sp1a to the client pc, but where do the files then go?also, i come across this section after installing SDK...ApplicationDataFolder]MicrosoftFSXSimConnect.xml[MyDocumentsFolder]Flight Simulator X FilesSimConnect.inibut, the highlighted part is the one i cant seem to find, even after an install, simconnect.ini is not in the folder where the above link suggests.Any ideas?Perhaps this is the reason why its not working?Ive followed all the steps with sharing ALL folders, thats all fine, and showing in the network.Install of ASE2012 on client pc and all folders are located, when starting up ase2012, it connects via simmconnect etc...but fsx: disconnected never changes...is there supposed to be any simconnect modules inside fsx folders to find the program?thats where im confused? Also, not tested the AI from the simconnect, i dont think it would work, as the data i have on the xml prob isnt right.if you have this set up or it works for you, let me know how you got this to work eg do i use the ip address thats for one pc in all simconnect.xml's or change the values to each corresponding pc - eg Client PC simconnect.xml - do i have the client IP address in this doc or the clients ...and vice a ver sad

Active SKY 2012 and ASE
Hi everyone,As we all know, the new and very sexy ASE2012 is out, and if it's not a hot-topic now, it probably will be.I'd like to start up an open discussion to find out how and what is the best way to configure ASE2012 over a network? The ASE2012 document / guide i feel is ambiguous - and doesnt clearly highlight what and where we need to do, or what todo step by step... eg, install SP1a and SP2 for SDK..etc...which im reading this can cause CTD's later on in flight? Also, the simconnect.xml can be located, but the simconnect.ini cant be located, so wondering does this come from SDK installs or from FSUIPC?When installing ASE2012, how do we get this to interract with the PC with FSX on it? EG: How do we find the domain IP so we can write this in to the simconnect. xml if im right?More questions around process and what the steps are to getting ASE to talk to FSX...so far, my attempts are not showing anything other than FSX: Disconnected....etc...Any help would be greatfully appreciated.Darryl

FSX - SDK - Which Service packs are required?
Hi everyone, I have some questions around SDK and ASE2012.1) To install ActiveSKY2012 and have this running over a network, the documentation is saying to install FSX Deluxe with SDK. After installing SDK, do i need next to bring FSX up to date to the correct version number>?EG: SP1A and thats it? SP1A and normal SP2 for FSX, or perhaps, SDK SP2 ...etc...not sure what one I need, after installing SDK SP2, it deletes certain GMAX files from SP1A...and i have read on forums some people are using SP1A and then normal FSX SP2 which could cause issues, when crashing to desktop (CTD) ... whats with the SDK SP2...is this really required?2) Does anyone know how to install and run ASE2012 on a networked connection? When reading the document, I have no idea what the simconnect.xml files should be reading, by way of IP coz I dont even know how to find my IP for my pc? I am running FSX google earth track, where it's set up over IPv4 and my PC name is in the address or host name field and using port 9017, which seems to be working ok, and then i read that ASE2012 needs to use port 500, but in the simconnect doc.xml it only has one entry for the 9017 port, so where do i put the other entry?3) I have found the simconnect.xml but i cant find the simconnect.ini file, and where it should be, it's not, so any ideas guys? Any help would be hugely appreciated....coz right now, im confused.comCheers,Darryl
