Saitek Multi-Panel

Featured Replies

Hello Guys! This is my first post here so I hope I'm posting in the right thread, if don't please remove or place it in the right thread!I've been searching of the whole internet but I can't get a real answer to my question.I've been wondering if the Saitek Multi-Panel is nowadays compatible with the add-on aircrafts like the iFly 737 / Captain Sim 757 / Level D 767.Actually I did found a lot of posts about the not-compatibility of saitek but all these posts where placed in 2009 when the multi-panel hit the stores and I was wondering if it is plausible to get the multi-panel working with those add-on aircrafts nowadays. And with working I mean a WORKING LED display, else I would buy some kind of toggle switch panel.I hope I'd get some good answers on this forum so I can contribute with my knowledge another time! Thanks in advance!

Hi Rik,I'm a new guy on the block here as well, but welcome.I was lucky enough to receive one of these for Christmas. I can't speak to the big iron stuff you're specifically asking about, but I can tell you that it works very well with each of my 4 add-on Carenado GA aircraft. 3 of the 4 have Bendix/King APs where I've yet to find a glitch. The 4th, Carenado's 337, works very well though it doesn't map to this older AP perfectly.Scott

Thanks alot! Nice to hear you enjoy the piece of equipment, I really like all the saitek stuff I already own but i was just having some doubts about this piece of equipment. So what kind of problems do you experience with the aircraft, and how do you handle with them?Thx for replying!

So what kind of problems do you experience with the aircraft, and how do you handle with them?
So far, no true problems. The aircraft I fly don't feature autothrottles and IAS modes, so these obviously don't do anything for me, but all other features work as advertised so far - course and heading selectors, vertical speed and altitude set and all appropriate digital readouts all do what they're supposed to do, and all of the mode buttons work great so long as that mode is supported in the aircraft. My only "problem" and it's not really a problem with the panel itself, comes from the 337, where its older autopilot's vertical axis doesn't have a VS or altitude select feature; only altitude hold and pitch. As the Saitek has VS, but doesn't have an AP pitch adjust feature (though it does have pitch trim) it doesn't have a 1:1 correspondence. I can still select ALT and go into altitude hold mode, and I can adjust pitch - sort of - by changing VS, though there are some glitches I haven't fully figured out yet with that. The biggest drawback is probably the fact that there's no easy way that I'm aware of to allow any re-mapping of functions. It does what it does - but it does a good enough job of mapping the autopilots that I use that I'm good with that. Now that I have it, I wouldn't want to fly any of my planes without it.Scott

Thx alot for your reply!I'm still not sure about my choice so I think im going to visit a local store and see if they can convince me.Have fun flying!

A third party developer made a replacement driver/configuration software for the Saitek Panels called "SPAD."Using SPAD, and user-created .lua files, you can get the panels working with add on aircraft like larger jets. However, if someone hasn't made the .lua script necessary for your particular aircraft, it may not work well. You can use SPAD to assign the knobs/buttons to specific functions as best you can, but the display won't update with the in-game alt/hdg/etc displays unless you have a .lua script made specifically for that plane.I've been able to find such scripts for the PMDG JS41, but I don't have one for the NGX since the developer kit hasn't yet been released. You can also try making your own script files but it's rather difficult if you don't have prior programming experience.Long story short, don't expect the panel to work completely out-of-box with your add on aircraft.

Hi fm_weaselIf i understand your right you say that Saitek Multipanel can control the AP functions of pmdg 737 ngx (thru SPAD and Linda), it just don't update the Display of the Multipanel ?

Latest addition to setup more dollars $$$$$$2x Saitek Three Lever Pro Throttle Quadrant (PZ45) Saitek CES432110002/06/1 Pro Flight Cessna Trim Wheel also ordered 1 x VRInsight - M Panel (VRI-120) hopefullyIt sounds like it functions well from what I read ------------------------ I guess the next stage would be real cockpit building.

Good morning. I saw that the PMDG has released the SDK yesterday for its products. I wanted to know if the saitek update their drivers (for example the multi panel) so we can use the various hardware in aircraft as well as NGX 737 that now not working.Best regards.

No, Saitek only supports the dafault A/Cs and they have never provided updates in order to support addons.

Yes only works with default aircraft but works fine with the fsx 737 IFLY, and for the pmdg i think the problem is the simconnect

It works only if a plane maker uses traditional FS offsets/parameters some makers ala PMDG use their own methods to achieve certain AP functions. It's basically a hit or misss product.

It seems that some progress has been made by the SPAD software.
YOu should now be able to use the PMDG NGX without issues and easily create profiles for other payware aircraft to make use of the Saitek Panels.
