No Autoland

Featured Replies

I was shooting the ILS 33L into KBOS just now. Following the checklist, verify that both NAVs are tuned, identifier is displayed, and course is correctly set on both pilot and co-pilot displays. Capture the LOC, capture the G/S, Cmd A and B both selected and I'm coming in perfectly. I get to 500 ft and "NO AUTOLAND" displays. Not a major problem as I disconnected the autopilot and hand-flew it in, but I was wondering why Autoland didn't engage. Did I possibly miss something?

A screenshot or two would be a big help !Fred.

Unfortunately, I did not take a screen shot. If it happens again, I will grab one, which will show the NO AUTOLAND in yellow where I was expecting to see LAND3. VOR/LOC and G/S were green. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Definitely not a bug, because I've had good autolands in the past.

Uhh.....weird.I had a similar issue, even if I land the bird manually on her last phase I like to engage the Autoland for a while before disconnecting the A/P.When doing that I was 85% succeeding on that and 25% fails so that was neither a bug nor a wrong plane setting. Now it seems I see the Autoland more often, let's say around 90-95% of times. What's the cause ? I dunno. Maybe that is just a coincidence but I noticed that sooner you press the second CMD button greater the chances are to see a green AUTOLAND. Just after the VOR/LOC and APP just IMMediatELY press the second CMD.Let me know if that is only luck or if somehow it plays a role, still I dunno.-

I did some thread research and may have hit on the solution. I just started using the 737-800WL Southwest Airlines livery. The plane was set up for Analogue (vs ISDF) and Fail Passive instead of Fail Operational, while the default plane has ISDF/Fail Op. I'm going to do the same flight in the PMDG House (default) plane and see what happens. Evidently ISDF is an expensive option (according to some folks in the threads) and I guess SWA doesn't have it, at least on their -800s.Moral of the story? Search before you post :(*ISFD*

As far as I can tell, you should still not get NO AUTOLAND if you do the (same) correct steps, only you get CMD instead of LAND 3.

hmmm...ok, I will watch for that. I did check in FSX and the ILS settings for KBOS 33L have not changed. I did do a LAND3 on another KBOS runway (04L I think) in the default 800WL.
