  1. Love EZDOK, use it all the time (don't have Track-IR). I've toned down the Camera effect/shaking for the main forward view and turned it off for all of the instrument views. It is a real PITA trying to set a NAV frequency when things are bouncing around.
  2. Looked at a bunch of the YouTube videos. Nope, not happening on my hard drive. Best of luck, Microsoft--I suspect you will need it.
  3. I realize that this has nothing to do with PMDG...If anyone subscribes to this magazine and has been wondering why they have not received their Jan/Feb issue yet, Computer Pilot has been sold by PCAviator to Flight! magazine, the German language publication. Next issue is not coming out until late May. According to the recording that they have on their support line, all subscriptions will be extended accordingly. The Jan/Feb online edition that they sent out does not count as another month in your subscription btw.More info here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?63301-Computer-Pilot-Magazine-has-new-owner
  4. Will probably download and install it just for grins.....
  5. Hopefully Yeoman Rand is the flight attendant.
  6. Agreed...for an extreme example, see the wargaming computer genre. Unbelievable nitpickers, that bunch of users, to the point where the industry is basically dead. Sort of like when someone says "perfection" and someone else grouses about it in a literal fashion. The "bugs" that PMDG has addressed in the SPs and Hotfixes would have been blown off by other developers whom I will not name here.Take your time PMDG...there's plenty to do and learn with the NGX in the meantime...
  7. When is the PMDG Piper Cub coming out? Will it have a fully functional FMC?
  8. Interesting first post....uh, I mean INTERESTING FIRST POST!!!!!!!!!
  9. I remember that FSINN bug. Ran into that frequently when I flew VATSIM. Definitely try it without FSINN and without any weather enabled to see if that clears it up, and then re-engage weather to see if that is the cause.
  10. +1 I love doing the shorter routes and the e-jets are really nice planes. I guess it would be a question as to whether PMDG a) feels like doing it and :( would get the kind of access to the plane that they got with Boeing so that they could create a product that met their very demanding standards.
  11. Ahh, the modern consumer. If I screw up, it's still the big bad company's fault. I'm sure he'd be willing to pay PMDG the 10 dollars that Robert so graciously waived.
  12. VERY nice. Since I'm a SWA frequent flyer in real life, it's great to see those. I have flown (in the RW) Shamu, Maryland 1, and the Spirit of Hope. Saw the "Adopt a Pilot" livery in (I think) MDW a while back. I fly out of KPHL, and we seem to get the "plane" jane liveries most of the time.
  13. Ryan has mentioned several times that he is working on this tutorial on his own time. If you can point me to another company where the employees do that, then feel free to continue being nasty to PMDG. Otherwise, please be patient and you will be rewarded. There's lots of other stuff to learn on the NGX, and there's at least one other killer tutorial out there (200+ pages).
  14. heh heh....was thinking the same thing....
  15. yes....and I can see from my message that I did not make that clear. Don't hit the switches until that "APU Gen Off Bus" light comes on.
  16. I think I've made that mistake about 5 times so far.....drives me nuts.
  17. I don't mean to be condescending, but assuming you don't have any failures engaged, follow your checklists to the letter. The only time I could not start engines was because I forgot to turn off both packs. Make sure your APU is running (it takes a while for it to spool up) and that your APU generator switches are on, and you have one fuel switch on to provide go juice to the APU (not sure if that matters, but the tutorial says to do it). The checklists are your friends.
  18. Personally I leave the vector in the FMC. When I hit the last waypoint before the vector, I let the plane continue along the vector heading and I dial up a heading and switch to HDG SEL when that heading provides me with a nice entry angle into the ILS outside of the next waypoint on the FMC. If you just delete the vector and have the FMC send you directly to the next waypoint (the first on the ILS), a lot of times you will intersect the ILS way too close to the airport and maybe even too high to properly snag the glideslope. If you fly online you will need to do this, because ATC will never send you direct to that next waypoint--usually they will give you several course changes that line you up nicely for the ILS.
  19. Here's the thing....small companies go down the chutes when they overreach. PMDG is not a multi-billion dollar enterprise that builds high-margin products. They are a niche company (at least with respect to consumer flight simulation products). There is no way that they can invest thousands of man-hours to build fully-featured planes for X-plane, FSX, FS9, Flight, P3D and whatever else comes down the chute. They need a reasonable expectation that they will be able to sell a decent amount of copies....probably in the 5-figure range to break even with a 3-year product like the NGX...unless they pay their programmers minimum wage, which I doubt. PMDG will do well if they sell 30,000 copies for FSX, but will go bankrupt if they sell 5,000 copies for 6 different flight simulation platforms.I realize some super-serious simmers consider P3D the product of the future, but given the pricing model, PMDG obviously feels that there's no way that there will ever be a large enough market to make it pay. Sorry, but while PMDG obviously loves their work, they are doing this for the money too.PMDG hires pros who make their living analyzing risk, markets, etc. If they think that FSX and XP10 are the future, then they're probably right. They can always develop for P3D 5 years from now if it takes off.I can live with FSX's issues as long as there is a PMDG out there trying to minimize the pain.
  20. I think I saw a quote from Mike Ray in one of his Boeing books regarding the use of VNAV: "you will be high and fast". I believe he recommends FL CH and getting down early.
  21. Thanks again Jeroen. I have used this checklist (previous version) for my last 5-6 flights and it is great. I like the 2-page format---printed it two-sided and it is very convenient. Great job!
  22. heh heh...saw this near KJAX once...kid gets on screaming at the top of his lungs "double engine failure" whilst we were in the middle of an event for Delta Virtual. CTR was dealing with 15 planes entering the STAR with no Approach online, and quite reasonably refused his request. Kid starts yelling about how he's gonna report CTR and continues to jam up the frequency about how many "people" (not souls, but people) were on the flight and that it was CTR's fault. Fortunately, just as the kid face-planted into a convenient swamp, CTR gets on, refuses to take the emergency one last time and calmly says "have a nice day".. Priceless.
  23. Yep, those AF1 kids on VATSIM are always good for a laugh. I was on a 10 mile final for (unstaffed) Dulles once on VATSIM when "AF1" got on unicom and demanded that all inbound flights clear out and stay 5nm away or "my escorting fighters will shoot you down." BTW he was a good 40nm out....I ignored him, but he never landed-just pulled the plug at some point.I think in my ~50 hrs on VATSIM I've heard more emergencies declared than I've seen in real life....don't know how you controllers can deal with that nonsense, but my hat's off to you.
  24. EZDok has increased my flying enjoyment 100%. Before, I would try to execute my "after landing" checklist whilst taxiing, and would usually end up on the grass somewhere. With EZDok, I can flick my hat switch to the left and pop right back into the left seat view. Check it out on YouTube--a guy has a real good series of tutorials.
