January 5, 201214 yr I've just finished putting together the new system....... I upped the mutliplier to 45 for now.... set a manual 1.25vcore and I'm having BSOD at times when playing Rise of Flight. I haven`t installed FSX yet as I don`t want any dissapointments,Ram timings are set to 9-9-9-24 2T (Auto) 1.5vI`ve been following this guide http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/overclocking/39184-p67-sandy-bridge-overclocking-guide-beginners.htmlI could use all the help I could get really. I havent had much exprience with overclocking but I`m learning. I just bumped the vcore to 1.26 to see if that improves stability, as per that guide saying 1.25-1.27 at 4.5ghz... Last night I set the ASUS Optimal overclock and went to Walmart and when I got home I had a black screen and it wouldn`t POST, I had to reset the cmos jumper to get back into BIOS. During the stress tests my CPU went to a max of 48 deg C...and I`m in a cold basement room.Any input or constructive critism appreciated at this point... I haven`t enjoyed this system yet but I soon hope to.
January 5, 201214 yr Author Prime 95 but I only let it run 25mins... maybe I didn't have that program set up right either? Edited January 5, 201214 yr by shane_IT
January 5, 201214 yr It is essential that it starts on all cores, you basically see it running in more windows.1.25 seems very very low.25min is WAY TOO SHORT.For a successful overclock you need to have at least couple of hours stable, without crash. As long as it crashes, you need to up the vcore. Also check your 0x0000... number on the blue screen if it appears and note it.
January 5, 201214 yr Author Thanks Word Not Allowed..... Just out of curiousity what is your Vcore with a clock of 5GHZ? I won't be trying to get anything over 4.5ghz.

January 5, 201214 yr That clunk guide seems to be off. I don't know if got some of the very first units produced.. but his vcore is waaaay low for even systems that have capable chips. Mine is not and the best it will do is 4.4GHz at 1.356v | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
January 5, 201214 yr Author Haha.. My grandfather restored 3 of them in the 1980 's, and this one still remains here on our farm. One of them is out in British Columbia right now being restored again (was involved in a crash), and the other is currently flying in Australia. Edited January 5, 201214 yr by shane_IT
January 5, 201214 yr I'm going to bump mine to 1.27 and run Prime95 before I go to bed. Also, with overclocking comes the temperature rise. What is your highest temperature on initial P95 run?
January 5, 201214 yr Author Also, with overclocking comes the temperature rise. What is your highest temperature on initial P95 run?It was max 48-49 celcius using Realtemp 3.60
January 5, 201214 yr It was max 48-49 celcius using Realtemp 3.60I would recommend you go 1.3 fixed, and run it, see how it holds. I doubt it will, but you can safely go 1.25->1.3.
January 5, 201214 yr What do you mean? You think it will crash or heat up ?I think it's gonna crash even with 1.3, because as Ryan said before, 1.25 stable for 4.5 is like... nearly impossible.I usually do the testing when on the computer doing other stuff like browsing or so. In the background...
