January 6, 201214 yr ...Actually should have titled it 'questions' lol...Are you overclocking your cards? I have recently dabbled a bit with it and notice a significant increase in performance/smoothness, but was wondering:1) what settings are you running and software are you using (i.e. voltage, clocks, precision or afterburner)2) what side effects are you seeing (if any)?3) What temps do you see under load?...Thanks in advance! January 6, 201214 yr That's my thinking. I bought an EVGA SC model just because it was the same price as the stock clock version. I run MSI Afterburne but I also have EVGA Prcision but it looks like exactly the same program. When I first got my card I had severe overheating problmes so was constantly conitoring and testing in various burnin and benchmark programs. Declocking didn't help significantly. I RMAd it and now have a replacement that works great and I don't think about it. I did set the fan speed in Afterburner to start increasing at 45 and 100% at 85 but I never get that high so far (On the first board it would hit 105+ within about 30 secs). I idle around 45.scott s..
January 7, 201214 yr Commercial Member I have never OC my 580 and don't really see a need to. Runs great out of the box. I think OC is more for OC enthusiests to pump out every MHz they can and for bragging rights. IMO not really needed for flightsim. Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!) Windows 10, (hold off for now on Win11), EVGA 1300W PSUNetgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displaysFull array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.

IMO not really needed for flightsim.I forced my 580 up to 950mhz on the core, highest possible volts, and some pretty high memory, to see what difference is going to make - she was singing, but FSX wasn't - in the end I ended up stocking it again. Performance was a bit better, when I say a bit, I really mean something like 2fps in range of 40fps...My temperatures don't matter, since I run custom watercooling on the card. They remain basically the same as when not OCed. I believe it's somewhere around 40C - I stopped checking, as apparently my cooler is properly installed. Edited January 8, 201214 yr by Kosta
January 8, 201214 yr Commercial Member Hey Word Not Allowed, off topic but just curious what drivers are you using? For my 580 I was at 275.33 and just upgraded to 285.62 mainly because I read Nvidia Inspector just updated so I did that as well. But with the exact same Nvidia settings it's looking pretty bad. Just curious,ClutchNevermind - I see there are apparently some changes that need to be made if one updates. Funny I got frustrated that nothing I selected in Inspector was helping so I just selected a bunch of stuff at random... holy-moly it looks and runs great!?!
