January 23, 201214 yr Outstanding list, but many suggest the i5 is a better chip. A friend of mine bought a similar specced machine from Overclockers in the UK with an i7 and it has been back to overclockers three times because he keeps getting BSOD's in FSX.Other than that he says it is an excellent computer. he has just sent it back for the fourth time and he is now downgrading to an i5.I have an i5, I never get BSOD's. May I suggest you do some research on the intel i5 sandybridge range of processors. Also get rid of one of the GFX cards and save some money FSX cannot utilise sli or crossfire configurations. Your just wasting money.keep all of the rest.Wycliffe Edited January 23, 201214 yr by morganbass
January 23, 201214 yr Author Thanks so much the computer is being build with those config now i am going to get the I5 sandy bridge. Also do you know which operated system works the best for FSX ? January 23, 201214 yr If I were you I'd go for something like this:Intel Core i7 2700K or 2600K (2700K OC's a little bit better)Corsair H100[Try to get a full tower Case] These are some popular cases that are really accommodating for lots of parts:Corsair Obsidian 800D or Thermaltake Level 10GT or Cooler Master Cosmos II8GB Corsair Dominator GT DDR3 @ 2000Corsair AX850Nvidia Geforce GTX580Asus P8Z68 Deluxe MotherboardCorsair Force GT 120GB SSD - FSXWestern Digital 1TB Caviar Black HDD - OS and main programsThis will be able to eat FSX for breakfast (that is if you OC the CPU)
January 23, 201214 yr The biggest issue I see with that system is the lack of an SSD. It would be a real pity to build such a nice system and then completely ruin the performance by using only regular harddisks. I'd say go for a new generation SATA3 SSD. You won't get an improved frame rate but the loading times will be reduced drastically and it might even reduce some stuttering caused by slow disk access. If you have a large amount of sceneries that will not fit on a 300GB (or whatever) SSD, use a regular harddisk for the sceneries you don't use very often. And I'll try not to start yet another ATI vs. Nvidia fight, but make sure that you're fully aware of the issues of using an ATI card in FSX. (search the hardware forum if you don't know what I'm talking about). Edited January 23, 201214 yr by tolip2

January 23, 201214 yr Re-Read the post.... I cleary put one of the fastest SSD's ever produced for consumers.Perhaps it wasn't clear, but my response was directed towards the original poster's question (hence the ATI vs Nvidia note as well).
