Follow VOR course?

Featured Replies

This might be just me, but I cannot get the FD or AP to follow a VOR course. I have the correct VOR frequency on Nav1 and VLOC selected, the HSI set to CDI (green arrow) mode and the course dialled in, but with CSE selected on the AP/FD I dont get the correct steering. Works fine for heading and GPS flightplans.Funnily enough, following the same as above for ILS it seems to work without problems (with APR selected on the AP/FD).This is definitely Carenado's best release to date. Looks fantastic and flies like a dream - unless its a hot day (30 deg C)and at gross weight. Makes takeoff interesting when you can't get more than 800 ft-lb of torque without lighting up the ITT gauge - does abort well though with all that beta from the prop! And uses a lot of runway when I was brave enough to keep going...What's the King Air going to be like?

You have to have NAV selected on the AP and VOR1 on the G500 CDI.With my AP mod it looks like this... similar with the native Carenado AP..

Yep, looks almost like my attempts except you have the VOR1 deviation bar aligned on the HSI (and no rdy caption on the AP/FD). If I set the VOR freq on Nav1 then set CSE on the G500 I cannot get the AP to track the course. I assume you mean the correct arrow on the G500 when you say VOR1 (single green for VOR1)? Not sure I have any white captions across the top of the G500 PFD, mine are always magenta. Will have another go when I get home - slaving away at the moment...!

If you do not have the VOR1 deviation bar aligned, you need to fly towards the NAV coursein HDG mode until the course is intercepted. If you have both HDG and NAV selected, HDG willswitch off at intercept.

Thanks for that Bert. Must have been suffering from brain fade as it works now (or I had tuned a DME?).Might also have been dazzled by the best Carenado release to date - really does look and fly superbly well. Fantastic modelling inside and out and a brilliant flight model. The new Carenado team is obviously working very well :( . She only needs a bit more system depth (especially fuel and electrics - I can live with the avionics as is for the performance).

+1 Great bird I agree:) Maybe we can get one with the G1000 one day... :( But the mix of the g500 and glass dials is pretty sweet though. Gonna stick with this thing for a while though. FSX has not been this much fun for awhile; hats off to the development team, including the texture and 3d artists who did an outstanding job and raised the bar!!

Oops, that's partially my error. Flat rated you should have no problem at all going to 1315ft-lb up to approx 40°C OAT and it looks like FSX exaggerates the OAT impact quite a bit.I'll try to fix it ASAP. In the meantime please disregard the ITT limit.

Wow - an update when I didn't even know it was a problem! Thanks Bernt. She will get airborne and fly (with care) okay in those conditions. Cairns runway is long enough and by 500ft with judicious power lever control you can get her up to 110 kts. Climb out is a bit slow and flat initially tho'....

Already fixed it. Once you have the fix you can 'officially' apply max torque up to 28°C. One problem was that JetPROP doesn't have any power setting tables or FAA approved performance data. After you mentioned the performance problem I looked into my C90 manuals as I've started working on the C90 already. The C90 has exactly the same engine so I could use its power setting tables.Best regardsBernt
