January 24, 201214 yr What file in X-Plane 10 directory is the startup file similar to "fsx.cfg" in FSX? Can it be modified to select a different startup configuration or make other parameter changes? Thanks Edited January 24, 201214 yr by Wilbert Wilbert
January 24, 201214 yr Commercial Member It isn't possible to manually edit a particular file in X Plane like it is in FSX. What exactly are you trying to re-configure?
January 25, 201214 yr Author I wanted to select a saved configuration (A/C + condition (flap position, engine running and etc.), airport, views, exact location and etc.). I have noticed after several updates, my startup situation was changed. If a file cannot be edited directly, is there a utility that can accomplish this? Wilbert
February 12, 201412 yr 5.9.1 Creating a Reusable Situation.....Hello, I cannot for the life of me Save Situation..!! I'm following the manual: To create a situation (a .sit file), move the mouse to the top of the screen, click File, then click Save Situation. I see the Save Situation window...Shows the X-Plane folder, and Output and situations folders. The only option I have at this point is CANCEL and that doesn't save anything. Nothing goes into the 'situations' folder, so, no 'situations' to LOAD later.... (obviously, I'm a newbie of 4 weeks)
February 12, 201412 yr You need to write the file name (exactly how you like to name it) into the white field above the cancel button. Than a "save" button will appear... magic.
February 12, 201412 yr Thanks, JakobG. ...I'm glad you don't know me personally, because I'm very embarrassed right now...I'm usually not this dumb...
February 12, 201412 yr um....not so much magic...it's refuses to save the situation. After entering a name and clicking save...nothing is saved. Oh Well.....
February 12, 201412 yr I think it looks like I will have to have the "Save preferences" box checked if I want to save a situation. (Operations & Warnings/Startup/Save preferences)
February 12, 201412 yr When you tell it to "save", it does not give you any more confirmation screens. Look in the "load" file and see if it's there. John John Wingold
February 14, 201412 yr Well, I can "Save situations" only if the "Save preferences" box is checked. "Load situations" works whether or not "Save preferences" box is checked. If "Save situations" is supposed to work even if the "Save preferences" box is unchecked, then I have some other problem going on that I'm not aware of....hummm.
