February 27, 200422 yr Ok im in search of a new flight planner to use with fs2004 for IFR plans.I already know of FSBUILD, FSNAVIGATOR & FSCommander, so im looking for something other than these 3.- FSBuild as far as i can tell has NO airport/rwy info- FSNAV can only be used from within the sim (i want a stand alone)- FS Commander is great except for 1 major flaw - you cant pull any waypoints/navaids from a searchable list/database to quickly add to your plan as in most planners. The only way to add a waypoint is to first find it on the map and click as you go along. This is too time consuming for longer range preferred IFR routes where it can be dificult to find intersections by visually searching a map full of clutter over hundreds of miles or more...otherwise it would have been my planner of choice hands down.So folks, anyone know of a nice planner that will export to fs2004?Thanks for the heads up in advance!Dave Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
February 27, 200422 yr Have you looked at Aeroplanner? http://www.aeroplanner.comI don't use them myself (the site has a bunch of free tools), but it looks like a fairly robust planner. I read a review in one of the flightsim paper magazines and I remember it being positive. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
February 27, 200422 yr Thanks Craig but it seems to be only for real world usage and wont export to fs2004, at least thats what it seems after a quick scan of the site...if im wrong please let me know.Im already using Jepp Flitestar VFR for my vfr type flights (which can be xported using addon utilties) but to upgrade to the IFR platform and a worldwide database is just way over the top price-wise for my use in a sim/game.Dave Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
February 28, 200422 yr >- FSBuild as far as i can tell has NO airport/rwy infoCan you clarify what you mean with this statement? I have been using the runway selection tool in FSB since I have owned it. Just curious. February 28, 200422 yr Mike - i was referring to a feature which will print out detailed airport info along with the plan itself...such as all available rwys, their corresponding length/width/elevation/ILS freqs as well as all necessary/available com freqs for both departing and arrival airportsDave Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
February 28, 200422 yr I use NAV3, all though it is for FS2002 I use it for FS2004. You need to have FS2002 installed. Make your flight plan then you can export it to FS2004 and Squawbox. It has a FP window and a map window. In the map window you can zoom into any airport, and depending on what options you have selected, it will tell you all you want to know about the airport.
