January 30, 201214 yr Hello guys,The other day i did a little flight of about 400 nm and because the SID ended and the STAR started on the same waypoint, the flight plan of my flight was only that waypoint and the two ICAO codes. So i load this flight plan on AS2012, it did was supposed to, and everything was great. The only thing that got me thinking was that the cruise temp was hotter than expected, and I notice that on the flight plan preview screen the average temp for the flight was around -20°, and that because the flight plan had only one waypoint, and that's ok. But because this average temp, I was on cruise level (FL350) long before the only waypoint on my flight plan with a temp of -10°, and only reaching the -20 or so when flying over that waypoint. On a side note, the same preview screen said that the temp at FL350 for that waypoint should have been -48So, my question is, is this the way AS2012 is supposed to work or there is some problem there, cause I see no point on having automatic real world updates if its not going to update the info when using a flight plan.By the way, it was on the middle of Europe so i thing there were enough station to get the METAR from. And sorry if my post i a little rough, English it is not my first language. Thanks to all, Edited January 30, 201214 yr by masneoquil Matias SorcinelliCHECK MY CHANNEL!!! - http://www.youtube.com/user/masneoquil

Your single waypoint flightplan should not have this impact on temperatures - you should see changes as you fly....DJ

January 30, 201214 yr No no, no FSInn.I was flying off-line OK, that's one less potential issue... From your system specs I would guess that you are using Win7 or Vista? If so, make sure that you run AS2012 from the right click "run as administrator" - the connection with FSX may have problems otherwise. Before you takeoff, refresh AS and see if the local weather is reflecting the flightplan data - if it isn't then there is a problem.DJ
February 4, 201214 yr Author Sorry for the late update.here is an screenshot of one of my resent flights.See how I should have a wind from the right and a temp of -40 aprox.I'm doing something wrong? Do you guys need something to check that out?Or is this how is supposed to work? Thanks again. Matias SorcinelliCHECK MY CHANNEL!!! - http://www.youtube.com/user/masneoquil
February 4, 201214 yr Hi Matius,If you look at the report screen ,for your altitude the winds are shown as 260/61 with the arrow going to the right. This is because North is to the top of the screen.Your shot of the cockpit shows winds 258/59 with the wind arrow pointing left. This is accurate as in flight you are flying on a heading of 154.In order to see the wind arrows in harmony you would need to be flying North at 360/0 degrees.I notice that you are flying in Australia and if you have read this forum some other pilots are questioning the data for their flights. One person is suggesting that an alternative data source be used however this is a question for the developersNorman Edited February 4, 201214 yr by norman s Norman Bowman

I just noticed that. Stupid me.And i understand about the data source, but the thing that beside that AS2012 is telling that the Temp should be -38, in FSX the temp is -21. It's look like FSX its not complying with the temp that AS2012 is telling it should be.Maybe it is a limitation. Matias SorcinelliCHECK MY CHANNEL!!! - http://www.youtube.com/user/masneoquil
February 5, 201214 yr Author Now i'm at FL310 with a Temp of 1. I think its too much!!, and besides that, AS2012 it should be quite lower.Any clues? Matias SorcinelliCHECK MY CHANNEL!!! - http://www.youtube.com/user/masneoquil
February 5, 201214 yr Hi Matias! First off, from your first screen shot: Wind in AS2012 shows that at FL360 it should be about 60K from the West. On the PDF screen the wind arrow is correctly showing this: it is showing 258 degrees and 59 knots. You are flying on a heading of Southeast so that will make the wind arrow on the PDF show the wind coming from the right. You HAVE a right crosswind when flying on your selected heading and that agrees with the WX page in AS2012 that you have depicted. Now as to temperature. The temperature above the Fuel status in the NG is a TOTAL TEMPERATURE or RAM TEMPERATURE which is a combination of the actual temperature of the air outside the plane PLUS the heat generated from the speed of the aircraft!!!!! In order to verify the Outside (or actual) air temperature that FSX is depicting, you need to first go to the PROG page of the FMC and then go to page TWO. There it will show you the current outside temperature in FSX as well as the wind speed and direction. In both of your screen shots, the wind is correct and the RAT (Ram air temp) shown seems to be about in the correct range for your altitude and airspeed, but you need to check the data in the FMC to verify that. For me, DWC always shows temps too high on climb/cruise and too low on descents. Only STANDARD realistically displays correct temperature changes with altitude. Seems that Damian could fix this. BTW, same thing was happening with ASE. It is not a new problem. Edited February 5, 201214 yr by HiFly
