Hello Captains.I had to reinstall fsx yesterday. Everything went well did the install as per NickN.Installed the RTM and started fsx, everything was OK.Installed SP1 started fsx, everything was OK.Installed SP2 started fsx and got this error message: This graphic card does not meet minimum requirements for shader support. This product requires a geforce3/radeon8500 class or better graphics card, Flight simulator will exit now.My graphics card is an EVGA GTX580 so its far better than what fsx needs.Win7 is up to date, latest nvidia driver is installed.Any help would be appreciated.Laszlo

I've seen this issue before, and I'm sorry to say I've yet to see a solution to it. Every post is a dead end as the OPs decided they didn't want to provide feedback after fixing the issue!Start by deleting the fsx.cfg and letting it rebuild (I doubt that will work). Also see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/191660 (doubt that will get it, also)I would uninstall, clean the registry, and start from scratch (again). NickN's guide to installation is tedious and completely uncalled for, by the way (most of his stuff is). Just install FSX and the service packs as administrator.

That happened to me also with a GTX 560. I reinstalled the video drivers, deleted the FSX.CFG then it was fine. On WinXP SP3.

That is odd, Laszlo. I had read the the SP2 device section could be deleted. Apparently that's not the case.

Looks like some incompatibility between SP2 and the current Forceware (175.16) drivers. There's one workaround: disable Multiple Displays on the nVidia Control Panel. Select "Only use one display (Single)" and you'll be able to run FSX+SP2 /FSX Accel.

I feel myself stupid because i cannot find this "use only one display" in the nvidia control panel.

LaszloIts under 'Displays' - 'SET up Multiple Displays' - you can set it to a single display.Also under 'Manage 3d Settings' just check that 'Multi-GPU mixed GPU acceleration' is set to 'single display performance mode'BTW - How many monitors are you running - more than 1? Keep in mind also that the video subsystem is comprised of *both* DirectX and the drivers. Have you updated DirectX with the download available on support.microsoft.com? It's quite possible to have DirectX 9C and still be non-current if you haven't got the latest updates. Prior to updating drivers I always check to see of there's a recent DirectX update release.

That was covered already. I do believe the issue is somewhere around in the ballpark of this, though.
