January 31, 201214 yr My old computer died (Ran XP) and I just bought my new one. I'm currently running Windows 7 Home. I get errors when I try to install Edit Voicepack saying I need to essentially "downgrade" to a different .NET Framework, but the computer won't let me. Anyone else have any suggestions or know of any other product similar to Edit Voicepack which will run on my PC? I'm already sick of not being able to hear the correct ATC callsigns. Thanks,Joe
January 31, 201214 yr the computer won't let meIt must let you install any version of .NET Framework. Just make sure you run as admin and make your Windows updates.Download the necessary .NF version (1.1) for your OS and install it: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=26And the service pack: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=33Update WIndows! Run as admin! Should work fine.
January 31, 201214 yr Although I haven't tried this myself, you should be able to get the app to run in newer versions of the .NET framework by simply editing the EditVoicepack.exe.config file in the install directory (make a backup of it first.) <?xml version="1.0"?><configuration> <startup> <supportedRuntime version="v2.0.50727"/> <supportedRuntime version="v4.0"/> </startup></configuration> That should get it to run in 3.5 (included with Win 7) or 4.0 (latest). The framework isn't guaranteed to be 100% backward compatible, but unless EditVoiicepack is doing something really off the wall -- it should work. Edited January 31, 201214 yr by Cpudan80

Editvocepack needs a specific version (or so it thinks) so all you need to do is install that one. It won't affect other ones you already have.John My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org
