March 1, 200422 yr 5.67GB - After seeing FS2002 get up to 15gb I decided this time round to be a bit more picky about what I keep. I've d/l many gb of addons but ,after trying them out (aircraft, scenery, whatever) only retained about 5%Dave
March 1, 200422 yr Hi,10.8GB (6.6GB compressed) here. I've tried to be much more selective this time around. Anyway FS2002 is still alive and well on the same HD - all 11.1GB (6.53GB compressed) of it :)Mike
March 2, 200422 yr FS9 folder 12.3GB (9.3GB compressed). A total of approx. 58,700 files in 2,700 folders. Included of course are my aircraft folders for freeware and payware which total 2.7GB (1.00GB). My FS9 folder at the moment is 9.6GB (8.3 GB) since I store my aircraft folders in a separate folder named "Addons" on my desktop. What I have got in the habit of doing is manually moving the folders for the aircraft I want to fly from the "Addon" folder to the "Aircraft" folder in FS9. A neat little trick, this saves on memory when FS9 is loaded as it does not have to use the memory resources for the aircraft I have no intension of using. In any event it still comprises a portion of total disk space that FS9 requires.Tom i913900KF (5.8GHz) | Case: Fractal PopAir RGB I Gigabyte Z790 UD AX| MSI Gaming RTX 4070Ti Super 16GB | Kingston Fury Beast 64GB DDR5 5200Mhz | SOLIDIGM P41 Plus 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD | Samsung SSD 870 EVO 2TB | Thermalright Frozen Notte 240 MM Liquid Cooling | LG EVO 42" Monitor 3840 x 2160 120Hz | Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo | Logitech G Pro pedals | Tobii EyeTracker | 850W Thermaltake 80+ GOLD |
March 2, 200422 yr For FS9 it is 4,95 GB and for FS2002 it is 6,9 GB.I use Martin Wright's AC Man program for both sims to store my add-on a/c in Hangars within the game directory, and this program allows you to make categories for the Hangars and is usable on all MS sims--one just renames the exe differently for each sim.Categories I have are :GA Single-Engine, RAF, USAF, US Navy, Royal Navy, GA Twins, WWI, Airliners, Bush Planes, Various Air Forces, Helicopters, Soviet AF,etc.... I have about 32 categories. and among them I have titles such as "To tweak" , "Temp" etc for making my mods....
March 2, 200422 yr FS9 Folder: 18.7GBAircraft: 12.3GB of which 4.34GB is AI Total Flight sim space used (includes couple of other simulators, flight sim related programs, as well as downloaded files: 32GBAnd to think a couple of years ago I only had a 6GB HDD, and thought I'd never fill that sucker when I first got it...LOL :-outta http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/dcforum/User_files/3e72a43942b48d2b.jpg There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness".- unknown "My daddy gives me up, to fight for you"- a US Military Members Child
March 2, 200422 yr WOW! Seems like I'm the "miserable" kind :) My FS9 folder is about 6.7GB and I tend to keep it clean. I know that lots of aircraft which I could install, I simply don't use and would never use. Except maybe once. I fly always online, so no reason for AI. Or, if I really wish for AI, I'll install PAI, doesn't take too long. One thing I noticed, FS9 gets really fast when there is less in it. So all I keep inside are PMDG+PSS aircraft and default Cessna as boot option. I threw everything else out. It speeded up booting, and it speeded up selection of the aircraft. I don't like flying "simple" aircraft. I like realistic system and nice looking cockpit, and models that kick #### (PSS A330+340) :) Few mesh sceneries and few airports, and that's it :) Small, fast and effective.
