February 5, 201214 yr Something like what's available here; http://www.navfltsm.addr.com/I've got it all printed out and sitting in a nice binder. I must find the time for a refresher course, as some of my skills are, er... lacking?

If you can figure out how to use an autopilot, surely you have the basics. Or is your question more specific? ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
February 5, 201214 yr If you are flying a complex aircraft, just follow what the flight director is telling you n the PFD, and be sure to keep speed at +5/´0 with respect to the speed bug.In general, when hand flyng an aircraft you would attempt to do exactly what the aircraft would do were the AP engaged. So first fly with the AP engaged, learn how the AP flies the aircraft, then disconnect the AP.Cheers,- jahman.
February 5, 201214 yr There is a good reading on FAA site - 'Aircraft Flying Handbook' or something similar. Worth reading, since You will learn very basic VFR-needed skills and lots of good, valuable information Bartłomiej Ender
February 5, 201214 yr FSX's "lessons" helps a lot. There are some basic but important knowledge/skills in those articles. If you have read all of them and you want to learn more, FAA's Aircraft Flying Handbook is a good free resource. David Chen
February 5, 201214 yr http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-Flight-Simulator-Pilots-Training/dp/0764588222I can highly recommend this book. I got it a couple years ago and it includes buckets of practical FSX scenarios that install into FSX as training flights and supplemental downloads (free to owners) in a well written enjoyable format.I still use it to brush up on a variety of subjects. February 5, 201214 yr It may surprise many users to know that FS includes flying lessons - the basic syllabus, and training all the way from PPL to ATP. So, the first place to check is the FS Help file.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!

Some planes SHOULD be flown using the AP whenever possible (big airliners). But if he wants to learn how to fly manually, indeed follow the FSX lessons!!!
February 5, 201214 yr I agree. Use the FSX lessons. Start with small GA aircraft before you move to the heavy metal. There are also some nice instructional videos about the basics of flight here.If you want to take it a step further, I suggest you buy a copy of "Flight Simulator X for Real Pilots" published by Wiley. This book is written by two FAA-certified instructors and intended for people who want to augment their RW flying lessons with some simulator training. But it is equally suited for armchair pilots. February 5, 201214 yr ..and if the question concerns the navigation of the aircraft without resorting to the simple installation of a flight plan installed into the autopilot/gps system, then go here and see how it was done prior to inertial guidance systems, gps's and fmc's.......http://www.navfltsm.addr.com/index.htm i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
