February 5, 201214 yr Commercial Member My FSX box died last July and since then I have been down and out of the Flight Simming hobby. So just off a big project at work I decided to do a new FSX install on my Toshiba i7 laptop with 8gigs of ram and an integrated Intel graphics card. After the initial install and applying Bojotes tweeks with all sliders maxed (except mesh and AG= Normal) I was pleasantly surprised at how good it all was - no blurries (LOD=9.5) and with a FPS at a solid 30 the flights were just as smooth as the old i7 at 5ghz.OK so this is with a stock FSX plane and no essentials installed like REX, PNW, UT2, EXDOK ectAnyway, after all the addons are installed if I am relegated to flying the Technam Sierra low and slow in PNW until Ivy Bridge arrives then so be it. Nonetheless It is still great to be back into the air.Cheersjja Edited February 5, 201214 yr by jjjallen Jim Allen[email protected]SkyPilot Software home of FSXAssist / P3DAssist
February 5, 201214 yr JJ, you are writing as if your 'old' box blew up. What happened? However, it's good news to see a flight sim fan flying again. :(
February 5, 201214 yr I been on my Laptop for awhile now and it's fairly loaded Rex/Gex/UTX and I find FSX doable on an duo [email protected] Ghz. Heck I even push the heavies at 20fps as long as I'm at FL20+ :)
