February 8, 201214 yr Hi all,i have a problem with my NGX, i enter everything in the FMC and so Transition Altitude (5000' in my following example). I supposed my cruise level in my example is FL330.During take off, i climb over 1000' and select ON VNAV and LNAV. Everything is ok, but once on TA (5000'), the aircraft doesn't climb more, however, my cruise level is entered in the MCP (33 000')I was waiting during many minutes before deciding something ... Finaly after 5 minutes, i deselected VNAV option and selected it ON again ... The aircraft is started to climb (Finaly !).I m not sure to understand where is my mistake, but i m pretty sure i did something wrong. I try it 2 times, for 2 flights, and got exactly the same problem. I just bought this aircraft, pretty sure i missed something ...Can you help me ?Thanks.
February 8, 201214 yr If your using a SID and there is an altitude restriction in your departure you won't be able to climb above it until you reach that point if your using VNAV. Use the legs page too look and see if there are any restrictions and if you want to climb above that restriction early then delete it. Edited February 8, 201214 yr by UAL115 Paul Deemer
February 8, 201214 yr I'd agree with the posters above, it should have been a SID altituderestriction. Does it work on other airports? If it is an altitude restriction you can simply continue the climb and delete the restriction by pressing the ALT INTV button on the MCP. Greetings from the 737 flightdeck!
February 8, 201214 yr Author Hi everybody, your right i used a SID ... Maybe, i have to be patient during the SID process ... Next time i will take care of that, and test my NGX from an another departure process and/or airport. Thanks for your help gentlemen.
February 10, 201214 yr if you engage vnav with mcp altitude on 5000 feet and you do not raise it when fmc tell you to do so, you have to press speed intervention with the new altitude in the mcp or re-engage vnav to cotinue the climb. Altitude intervention will erase the actual waypoint altitude restriction so the aircraft can climb to the mcp altitude or the next waypoint altitude restriction. every time you press the altitude intervention you erase the next altitude restriction below the selected mcp altitude.
