February 14, 201214 yr I'm updating OSM data for the downtown area of Toronto and there are some communication towers that shouldn't be there. They are not in the OSM data, any idea where they are coming from, and how do I get rid of them? Tried adding an exclusion in Wed, tower is still there.GlenP.S. For whatever reason, this tower is the same height as the CN Tower, which does have a Communication Tower on top. There is nothing in the OSM data for the CN Tower to "add" a Comm Tower. There are about 10-15 more towers north east of this one that also shouldn't be there, need to get rid of them. February 14, 201214 yr Exclusions seems to have changed for xp10, we have to wait for updated documention to know their syntax.
February 14, 201214 yr Author Hi Ben, any idea where the tower data is coming from, what's the source? They all appear to be the same height as the real world buildings. I'm assuming that the real world building, that should be in place of these towers, has a comm tower or some sort of tower on it's roof, why it's showing in XPX is strange to me. What tool / program can I use to see the tower data, it comes from somewhere.Glen Gigabyte z590 UD - i5 11600k 4.9 GHz - 64gb 3600 MHz ram - RTX 3070 ti - multiple ssd - 34" 3440x1440 100 Hz Curved - Saitek Yoke Pedals Throttle Quadrant x2 - TM T16000m x2 Throttle - Win 11 Pro
February 14, 201214 yr If it's not in osm maybe Laminar also used another source for generating scenery files?I really don't know, maybe someone from Laminar will answer that here :)
February 23, 201214 yr It would be nice to be able to remove high tension electrical towers also.. Some areas where the terrain has rapid elevation changes there are several towers almost one on top of the other.. Has anyone else seen this??
February 27, 201214 yr Author Update:Ben Supnik just responded to a email I sent and got me sorted out. All I needed to do was add a exclusion to the area to remove the towers and then make sure the scenery priority was correct. I had it in the wrong order. Your add on scenery needs to be at the highest level, which means at the start of the Custom Scenery folder. My mistake was thinking the default was the highest level, then exclusions on top of that to get rid of the unwanted default objects, and then your custom scenery lays on top of the default, minus excluded objects. It actually works the opposite, your scenery is 1, exclusions are 2, default is 3.Glen Gigabyte z590 UD - i5 11600k 4.9 GHz - 64gb 3600 MHz ram - RTX 3070 ti - multiple ssd - 34" 3440x1440 100 Hz Curved - Saitek Yoke Pedals Throttle Quadrant x2 - TM T16000m x2 Throttle - Win 11 Pro
February 28, 201214 yr Glen doing the exclusions, does it do away with the towers that are supposed to be in the area? The towers you had, look exactly like the towers in the OKC scenery, but those towers are supposed to be there. Donald E. Donovan Flying is the 2nd greatest thrill known to man The 1st is landing.
February 28, 201214 yr Author Hi Don,I suppose it would. Ben said to do a OBJ / FAC exclusion and that's what I did in WED. I actually made a big exclusion area that covered many city blocks to get rid of any stray towers / buildings and it seemed to work, they were all gone. If you didn't want to remove specific towers / objects, you would have to be careful with the placement of your exclusion. Don't forget, the order of your scenery folders inside the "Custom Scenery" is very important. I now prefix all my custom made sceneries with the number 1, ie. 1CYQA-Muskoka, so they are the first folders. These towers in Toronto were / are kind of odd to begin with. There are no towers like that in downtown Toronto, but there are lots on the roof tops of these skyscrapers. It would be interesting to know what was triggering a tower to be placed in the default scenery at those locations. Another oddity is that they were all the same height as the building that should have been drawn there. The only common thing I could find was they had the word "Tower" in their name in OSM. I'll have to check some other cities to see if towers are placed everywhere a building exists in OSM with "Tower" in it's name.Glen Gigabyte z590 UD - i5 11600k 4.9 GHz - 64gb 3600 MHz ram - RTX 3070 ti - multiple ssd - 34" 3440x1440 100 Hz Curved - Saitek Yoke Pedals Throttle Quadrant x2 - TM T16000m x2 Throttle - Win 11 Pro
February 28, 201214 yr At the same time, they might look at the Electric towers straddling roads, and the row of trucks floating in the air at the Ksea airport.
