King Air B200 or ATR 72?

Featured Replies

You may remember that I recently asked a question about which B737 would be better and a couple of people very kindly replied to me in favour of the iFly version. However, I downloaded the operations manual for this a/c and thought there was a lot to learn and cope with so I have decided to look for something a little easier on the learning curve - well, I'm nearly 70 now!!Flight 1 have two interesting a/c which might fit the bill and I'm wondering if anyone would be kind enough to share their views on them. One of them is the Aeroworx King Air B200 Extreme and the other is the ATR 72-500.Many thanks once again.David

The Aeroworx King Air is my all time favorite aircraft for flight simulator. It was developed by real King Air pilots and is as close to the real thing as it gets. It comes with a superb tutorial that will learn you everything you need to know to fly it. The ATR 72 is a completely different aircraft and closer to an airliner in operation and complexity.

Agreed, the king air is a simpler machine if your not looking for something too complex system wise, thats not to say that the king air isnt complete, its an extremely well done sinulation if the aircraft. The only problem is some users, very few have a trim issue, i being one if them, and could not find a fix for it, so i beleive it may be sytem related.

Have you searched the Aeroworx forum?

Yep, did it all, fs controls, fsuipc controls, fs calibration, fsuipc calivrations, disable fs controls, disable joysticks....Its the only aircraft among my dozen of paywares that i cant crack the issue, hence why i dont fly it much anymore.P.S If you have a suggestion im all ears, as its a great aircraft other then that issue

digital aviation cheyenne, available at aerosoft is a more up to date turbo prop. atr and b200 are both good and have 30 day refund option from flight1.

Seriously though David, I've found the hi end turboprops you speak of to be even more initially challenging than the big birds :( The ATR systems especially are a world apart - the 737 is much easier imho for normal A to B flight. The B200 is great but older avionics is no easier than an FMC imho, and she is haaaard to land at first. These are fantastic aircraft, but don't think for a moment they are 'easier' to learn per se.Airliners like iFly are complex under the hood, but trust me, once you get it imho they are a breeze to fly because so much is automated. And there is current, excellent support for any issues you may encounter.
