How complete is XPX

:( Good lord people. You won't be dissapointed Jose, you just will have to get use to it. I had fits with XPX when I bought it, and almost gave up on it. When I really sat down and "dove" into it, it was great. I don't play FSX anymore, not because I don't still enjoy it, but because XPX suits my needs. The rual scenery is spectacular at times, and the sim as a whole, is much more stable and framerate friendly than FSX. 3rd party aircraft are a must in my opinion, but are very enjoyable. Cities and towns are nice, just not complete, but it's something you will overcome when flying over the beutiful scenery in between. Clouds and weather are VERY nice IMO. Acually flying IFR in XPX is much more reallistic than in FSX. The cloulds are not as "pretty" as they are in FSX, but feal more volumetric. You're not flying through "sheets" of cloulds, when you get yourself into clouds if XPX, you stay in them, and, your on intruments until you're out of them.Tim
Thanks Tim.That's the type of info I'm looking for!

Hi Jose,I'll give you one good reason to seriously consider trying the demo before purchasing. I did and found out that the demo won't run on my system because of a glitch with certain Nvidia cards and that mine is among the group of cards with which XP10 doesn't 'get along with'. And I'm assuming that if the demo won't run then the full version won't run also. Folks, if I'm wrong in my assumption, please correct me!I've dealt with customer support who have confirmed that LR is very aware of the issue and that they and Nvidia are working very hard to find a solution.I'm very much looking forward to buying XP10 but will not do so until that issue is resolved - what would be the point! Additional information on this and two other major issues, one of which is related to ATI cards, can be found on the Developers' forum or blog: http://developer.x-plane.com/2012/02/three-nasty-bugs/Regards,JJ

Well to better answer the OP questions, Ill say that I like how the scenery looks at altitude much better in XPX. IN FSX, things look great down on the ground but after takeoff and climb to cruising altitude, things start to become blurry and much less convincing. With XPX, it stays looking sharp and crisp. I also like the Runway lighting in XPX much better, and the slopped runways are amazing! Overall I can get better eye candy with FSX, but thats not what Im looking for. XPX puts more into what counts for me. That being said, there are lots of issues with XPX and its a work in progress, but in just the short time Ive had it (2 weeks) its already improved a few times. I have no doubt it will be gaining popularity down the road, But I dont care about that. I just go with what works for me and X-Plane X (even in its current form) is the best for me. Im not uninstalling FSX anytime soon, but I am spending a lot less time with it.I also like the developers openess to discuse what they are working on and admitting to and fixing bugs rabidly. This is a complete chage for any Microsoft product and very refreshing.Rob

Excellent! Can you share why you keep coming back to the demo/full version. In other words, what is about the demo that brings you joy and keeps you coming back to it over and over again. It's obviously clear from the responses that XPX is nowhere near complete, but I know that there are simmers who find much joy. I want to expand my level of fun. These ideas are what interest me. What can I do with XPX that will bring me more joy? Thanks again for all the positive responses.
I highly recommend the demo first too. I didn't and bought the product. I can afford it so no problems. I was impressed how fast the product arrived. I was told at checkout anytime after the 22nd and got it much sooner. So far I have not gotten any aircraft off the ground (only had it for about 4 hours). I cannot get my CyborgX joystick to work. I have read and reread the instructions and the calibration page shows that it 'sees' my joystick, it just does not work when I load an aircraft. I think for any software program, that should be the easiest thing as most programs automatically set up the joystick. This program does not. That may be good, it may be bad. I don't know yet. If I can't get the joystick to work, then the program is useless to me and it will be removed from my harddrive and put away in my software drawer. There shouldn't be a lot of bugs to this program. The final global version was recently released with a lot of fanfare and it should operate without any bugs as that has been tested by beta testers before going final. I don't know if this joystick thing is a bug as many people have gotten their joystick to work w/o issues. It's raining here on Friday so I'll have more time to work on it. But, again, make sure you download and run the demo first as it may not work for your equipment and that's an important aspect of this and any software program.Best regards,JimBest regards,Jim
