CTD with new computer/installation

Featured Replies

Hi - I just got a new computer and have done a fresh install of FSX with SP1 and 2. I then added FSUIPC 4.8, Ultimate Traffic 2 and ASE2012. I've just installed the NGX (with the latest SP) and am having CTD issues for the first time. There is no real pattern to the crashes, sometimes it happens if I try to click on one of the FS menus - In this instance the screen goes black and i need to use ctl+alt+del to shut it down. In other instances I can get the airplane flying but at some point during the climb or leveling off in cruise (without doing anything), I get the blue circle cursor and then a windows error that shuts down FSX. I realize that it's probably tough to diagnose the issue from this simple description but if anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it. I'm wondering if there could be an issue with the order in which I installed the addons? Threr is a thread around here that will fix that for you. I had to go through the same with my new build last week.It is some file.....a .dll file from a 64bit Vista OS that you drop into your root FSX folder. I did that one thing, and I can now alt tab and click on the menus until my mouse breaks.

Thanks for the help - I've downloaded the suggested DLL and the problem appears to be fixed. However I still appear to be having an issue with CTD at cruise. They appear to occur when I increase the simulation rate to 2x - I tried a search on this but did not get any hits. Has anyone had this issue? Again I appreciate the help!Chris

I have before with some complex aircraft. Sometimes it was my FMC and navigation would go crazy, and never recover, and before with my older PC, it was like I got too far ahead of my scenery, and my computer could never catch up and would crash sometimes. Not sure about a fix for that other than not running in anything but normal time :)

Hmm, not sure about about the 2x, might be the cause of your issue, however, simply pasting the .DLL might not do the trick as you may have to give it a registry command in order for it to be written properly within the registry itself.

Hmmm....first I have read that. I really did just drop it in, and it worked fine....have not had a ctd yet...apart from FSInn doing its magic every once in a while....lol.I have read though that you DONT want to register it...however that works...as you still want your computer to use the Win7 one for all other programs, and that the actual program will always look in its root first before going to the system32 or system area to find it...Not sure though....that part of the reading was way above my head....I pretty much just understood to drop that bad boy in there.

Having the same frustrating problem. Can you someone tell me where to obtain this .dll so I may drop it in, and see if it cures the problem. I am using Windows 7 64 bit. Thanks,KevinSPECS:KEVIN N. If you do a search in AVSIM of Google for "UIAutomationCore" you should find it. From what i remember you want the Vista version of this file, but my memory could be off. Good luck!
