February 23, 201214 yr Yes. FSX is "CPU intensive" but no, it's not always "CPU bound". My GPU overclock gives me 4 FPS when in heavy clouds with my current AA setting of 8xS 2xSGSS at PHNL runway 04R.Words and definitions, what can I say?Phil Taylor: "The main issue is FSX is CPU bound" http://blogs.msdn.co...multi-core.aspx Edited February 23, 201214 yr by Tor
February 24, 201214 yr I have the Toshiba 755. Haven't played FSX on it but, it's the 1st laptop I've used that actually feels like a desktop in terms of performance. What I really liked is the absence of crapware ...it was ready to go right out of the box. I'd buy it again. The sim itself is CPU-bound.

With any of the SB or IB chips, I think it is necessary to be having at least a GTX560 and above for FSX usage. Especially in dense clouds with high AA settings.

February 25, 201214 yr Author Is there a manual included with a BIOS description? The manual contains nothing about the BIOS. Let me check the BIOS again. There is something call "cpu multicore processing" Edited February 25, 201214 yr by ironmaiden Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
February 25, 201214 yr Author can you take some pics and upload them?Sure can, but I can only do that later today or tomorrow.I have also used Bojotes tweak for 4 cores and with HT as "not known" but have not noticed a diff, all my sets are high and I pull 15-29 fps @kjfk.I shall try use with HT ON.Will post the snaps the moment i am able click them. February 27, 201214 yr Author Try AF=5I still have not clicked the BIOS snaps, AF=5 is that the AffinityMask=5 as in fsx.cfg it is 14.I tried X plane 10 on this machine it gives me stable of 20 fps. Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus

Try it and see how it goes. I'm not sure 14 is ok for a dual core + HT. I know bojote's tool sets it to 14, may be mistaken, or I may be mistaken. Anyhow, it won't hurt to tryNice performance there mate. Glad to hear you're happy with it.Now set your GT520 with Inspector, are you running any AA at all?

Do I download the Inspector from the Nvidia website and then follow nicks Nvidia Guide ?The AA is a bit confusing in the Nvidia Control Panel , I have downloaded the Nvidia Inspector from guru3d.com but I do not know how to use it. Should I OC the GT on the laptop , I have only fiddled with OC's on a Desktop and not a laptop would it be safe ? February 27, 201214 yr No, don't overclock it.Just set AA & AF per Nick or Ryan's (PMDG forum here in Avsim) instructions.Try 8xS for AA. If it's too much for your card (check in clouds/fog), try something less demanding like 4xIf you've never run any AA you're gonna love it Edited February 27, 201214 yr by dazz
