They already have a plan and probably are not interested in ideas or feedback. They need to get this puppy stable first. The were already thrown of course with the cloud thing so I am sure they have their bullet points and will try to stay on target. It is not that they don't care, it is that they must stay focused on what they feel is important and least until they get out of the beta stage. Just my opinion.Bob

To be truthful I don't know how far out in real life, as all the cheap planes that I can afford to fly don't have DME on board, but they always looked pretty bright to me quite a ways out.

I'm a noob pilot, but I believe you can see PAPIs beyond 5 miles in clear day conditions and over 20 miles in clear night conditions. I'm not 100% on that day estimate, but I definitely remember my instructor telling me (and showing me) PAPIs from 25 miles when we were returning home one night.
