  1. I wish it had more wing flex. The 777 doesn't look right with droopy wings in the air.
  2. I'm impressed so far. There are a couple things I'd really like to see added in XPX. First off, a better default GPS. The one included now sucks and has severely limited functionality. Austin needs to get that in the works ASAP. I fly in the 3D pit view and I'd like to have a more functional GPS to use for flight plans and procedures. The second item I hope for is not really an XPX complaint per se, but I'd like a more thorough library of objects for editing scenery. I downloaded the Openscenery X package and was very disappointed. Everything I looked for was not included. I'm researching now on how to make my own objects and import them into scenery, but I am not an "artist" and I usually prefer to spend time flying instead of tweaking.
  3. I had a hard time locating this as well, but I was able to snag it from their web site several weeks ago. I can't find the site now where I got it - maybe it's not currently up. Repaints are available here in the library. If you PM me with your email address I can send the base model to you.
  4. Will there be wing flex? Love the massive triple seven wing flex on the real bird.
  5. I'm using an Nvidia GTX 460 Superclocked Edition with the 295.73 driver. It appears that Simon was on the right track. I tested using the Carenado Bonanza, Carenado Mooney, and the default 747-400. No reflections. Then I switched to the default Baron and default Cessna 172 and the reflections were there. So I guess it does depend on the aircraft?
  6. Actually your video was the one I saw before I posted. Haha! Anyway, I've tried HDR on, HDR off, all kinds of stuff. No luck for some reason.
  7. What's the trick to get the strobe lights to reflect off the pavement? I've seen it in lots of user videos, but I can't seem to get that effect for some reason.
  8. I'm new to X-Plane and ordered my copy of X-Plane 10 from X-Aviation. Many of the staff were at a conference and this delayed the same-day shipping that I expected. However, I received emails from X-Aviation explaining the situation as well as a follow up email to make sure I was satisfied. I found it to be very professional. Stick, you should try contacting them once more. Or perhaps you'll get a response from someone on here. I am sure X-Aviation will make it right. Maybe just bad luck?
  9. I'm getting some jaggies on certain terrain areas that cause obnoxious shimmering. It's specifically areas that are fields/rural areas. Anyone else having this? I've got everything looking great except this annoying little piece. It's almost like certain "tiles" are not even with the areas next to it. Thanks for any info on a possible fix.
  10. You should not need to overclock it. Any new computer these days should run X-Plane 10 well, provided you have a decent video card. I'm on an older setup (Q9550 GTX460) and I am running mid-high settings + HDR at 30 fps and I am amazed how awesome the environment looks.
  11. I notice that as well. The fix for the moving cloud shadows is to set water reflection to none. Doesn't look as pretty, but it gets rid of the screwy visual effect. I'm torn between excellent AA with HDR off and no water reflections, or poor AA with HDR on and full water reflections. I mght have to get used to shimmering autogen to take advantage of the recent performance improvements regarding HDR.
  12. Quick update. I found out tonight that using AA in the application does work the best. I changed my Nvidia Control Panel back to application controlled. The issue was due to the fact that I did not close X-Plane first and restart it after making adjustments. It did not state in rendering options that it was necessary, but that fixed my issue. Too bad HDR still causes some shimmering. Maybe that will improve in a future update. Time to start looking for scenery and aircraft. It's really looking good now. :(
  13. In the version I have (I think it's 10.04 rc1), it appears they now prevent you from doing this. The standard in-app AA changes to the HDR AA setting when you click to enable HDR AA. I hope I am explaining that correctly. It was late last night when I was experimenting with all this, so it's likely that I was utilizing minimal brain activity. :(
  14. Hey Alex. What's weird is that I get better results with overriding AA in the Nvidia Control Panel. If I use the application AA with HDR off, I get terrible jaggies. Much worse than with HDR on the medium AA setting. That actually looks decent, but the roads have jaggies as I fly around. Like you, I am not able to run the highest AA with HDR on. I have only monkeyed with this for one night so far and I am not going to be able to get back to the computer to test anything else for a few hours. Until then, I'm open to any and all suggestions.
  15. Got my copy of X-Plane 10 this week. :( I installed it yesterday and started diving into the rendering options. What the best way is to set up XPX for the best visual quality? I seem to be able to run it well, but I am struggling a bit to get the AA/filtering settings to my liking. Should I let the Nvidia Control Panel do the work or let the XPX application? Just curious what others are doing to avoid jaggies and shimmering. I'd like to use HDR, but I seem to get more jaggies with it. XPX looks great with and without it, anyway. For what it's worth, I am running a GTX460 (current driver) and my monitor native res is 1680 X 1050. Thanks for any info.
  16. It shows in X-Plane 10 when HDR is enabled.
  17. I'd like to see some detailed static aircraft at XPX airports for sure. For me, it doesn't matter if the AI number is limited to 20 or not because I have to turn off the AI so that my aging computer runs the sim fluidly. I'd rather see populated gates and ground activity instead of other planes in the sky. I know it's probably just me that feels this way because a lot of folks have more powerful systems than I do. I guess another option would be to learn how to edit scenery and place objects on my own.
  18. I'm a noob pilot, but I believe you can see PAPIs beyond 5 miles in clear day conditions and over 20 miles in clear night conditions. I'm not 100% on that day estimate, but I definitely remember my instructor telling me (and showing me) PAPIs from 25 miles when we were returning home one night.
  19. I'll give credit where it's due. Looks like a phenomenal project. That said, it's been under development for years and they recently went 6 months without a peep on the progress. X-Plane sorely needs projects such as this to help it become a more major player in the simulation realm. In my opinion, it doesn't help when the development cycle takes this long and projects just get scrapped like the XP Jets 757. I wish them the best and I will be happy to shell out money for a quality product - when and if that ever comes to pass. I'm just sayin'....Scott
  20. Cool shots. Got to see the real thing on my way to LA a couple weeks ago. Neat to see it in a simulation.Scott
  21. Yup, no water reflections cured it for me as well. And the water still looks pretty nice and will reflect the sun, etc. That should hold me until a possible fix comes along. Well done, fellow simmers. This forum served its purpose! Glad to have somewhere like this to get a bunch of minds together to give and receive help!Scott
  22. I'll try this when I get home later. I bet X-Plane water still looks somewhat decent on the lowest setting. If it ends the crawling shadows, I suppose I can live with that for now. I've messed with so many other options without success, but never thought about lowering the water setting. Hope it works for me as well.
  23. I'm glad to know I'm obviously not the only one with this issue. Thanks for all the replies and thanks to those who filed a bug report. I submitted one as well. Hopefully this one is ironed out. I just checked the notes on the incoming update and it doesn't look like this issue is on the list. I sure hope the development team is aware of our situation and doesn't think this is an isolated issue.
  24. Andy-Thank you for your clarifications and the video. The video above is EXACTLY what I am referring to in my original post. I don't seem to have any obvious problems with the color flashes as some do. Perhaps those two things are tied together. I find it a big issue and I'm holding off on my X-Plane 10 purchase until I see this resolved. It's that distracting for me. I almost wish there was a way to turn off cloud shadows entirely. I've almost gotten so used to the "Microsoft" look. But the environment is what makes this a better platform, in my opinion. Thanks,Scott
  25. Thanks for the reply, Mike. We're both running Nvidia....and the driver I am using is several months old. What driver are you using? Anyone here running Nvidia and not experiencing this?
