Custom waypoints

Featured Replies

Hey guys, sorry if that that has been covered before but I didn't find an answer so I ask now.I'm currently on enroute from Chicago to Baltimore and have now a bit of time to discover new functions in the FMC. I've managed to get custom waypoints for VOR's, for example an waypoint 5 miles from VOR ORD on radial 260. That did work as expected but I now trie to get waypoints on the route, for example an custom waypoint 10 miles before the waypoint ANEWA (which I'm currently approaching). I did search the manual but I couldn't get it.

Best regards, Steffen

1) On the Legs page click on the waypoint you want to base your new one on, that will enter that waypoint in the scratchpad2) To the end of that, type "/" and the number of miles, so for example if we clicked SFX, we should have "SFX/10" in the scratch pad3) Click on the waypoint after SFX in the legs page, and it will insert SFX+10 into the list4) execute5) crack open beer!Note you can also add a waypoint "behind" by using SFX/-20 and inserting that *behind* the base waypoint by clicking *on* the base waypoint.-George

Thanks George, I´ll do as adviced.Btw. I´ve got some other problems with custom waypoints and don´t know hot to fix these. For example in the O´Hare 5 departure. It says that I have to cross the 5 NM outbound arc of ORD (Which is the VOR on the field.) at 3000ft and the 8NM at 4000ft. Therefore I would like to have two two waypoints in runway heading, one at 5 MN outbound of ORD and the other one 8 NM out. I tried that with the Place- bearing/distance method but it was a pain and didn´t work fully correct. Have you any ideas how to programm that into the FMC?

Best regards, Steffen

Fred wrote a tutorial thread on the subject of custom waypoints which covers all the possiblities, including some that should work but currently don't.

All the waypoint possibilities are in taught in Tutorial #2 - that's what I did to take up time during cruise ;)

Good idea, Ryan. I'll read it all the way. Hopefully it'll be out soon (Maybe that weekend?!).
