February 29, 201214 yr Greetings to everyone!First post in long time, but not first post.Remembering back to the thrill that was the first in the series of "Flight Unlimited" Had that "this is new" feeling, the whole atmosphere of color, ambient sounds...the wind noise, the sound of wings buckling when you overstressed the model... it may have taken a while but after playing it out it seemed to become "flight limited" for me and it was back to FS..I have been flying this new great sim for hours today and I have really mixed feelings that this isnt as "new" as FU was at the time but simply the best next FS!!! However please dont flame me but I am sorry to say Im starting to get Deja Vu becuase this IS limited! :sad:Im happy to keep exploring Flight for now but what ever you call it, IMHO ether way unless we see some upcoming releases like say Sanfran, or NY or London etc it seems the glass is half empty for this old simmer.SO, is this Flight Unlimited IV or FSII Limited or what say you? February 29, 201214 yr Must say i 99% agree with you... HAF X Full tower with 1200W Corsair ATX Gold ROG Asus Maximus IV Sandy Bridge i7 2600k 3,4 ~ 3,8Ghz with Zalman cooler 16Gb Vengeance 15250MB/s 2x2 TB HD, Writing at 185-200MB/s, 500GB for Windows 7 Ultimate GTX580 GTX285 @ physx 27" 16:9 HD 1ms response
February 29, 201214 yr Agreed. Simple and rather empty after a couple of hours. What it HAS is pretty darned good, but the limitations at this point send me back to the real world of simulation: FSX.Interesting, it will be, how the program might expand and how much it will cost. i7-9700K, MSI Z370, PNY 4070 Super, GTX 750Ti, 32GB GSkill, 43" curved Samsung, 32" BenQ, 11" LED, RealSImGear GTN750, Win10, P3DV5.4/P3DV6 and MSFS, several GoFlight modules, Saitek radio, Brunner CLS-E NG Yoke, Virtual Fly TQ6.
February 29, 201214 yr I think it's a step down from any of the Flight Unlimited games. They were actually quite advanced for their time, bringing many "firsts" to the world of flight sims. The original FU was the first sim to feature realistic (at the time) scenery and flight models. FU2 brought large-scale photographic scenery for the first time, as well as realtime ATC many years before any other sim. FU3 perhaps did fall behind the competition, but it was released just before Looking Glass Studios closed their doors for good, so they didn't have the resources to realize everything. It did however feature ATC several years before this feature debuted in FS2002, and it also featured some of the best weather modeling at the time.Flight doesn't really bring anything new to the table, it's just a different (vastly simplified) take on FSX. It's like they spent six years taking stuff out of FSX, piece by piece.Flight is more like Test Drive Unlimited, a casual driving game where you get to try out exotic sports cars. IMO Flight IS just what FSXI could should be period, but only as a great tiny little demo, period!BTW above is not totaly correct, I believe FS5 had Malards Sanfran software photorealistic scenery of Sanfrancisco about 5-10k square miles..
March 1, 201214 yr Keep in mind the developers decided to release msf early rather than later, they said in an interview. If it had been a boxed version im sure the aircraft lineup and scenery would have been stronger at the start.More but later release or sooner with less content, what would you prefer? :)- -- - Kinetic
March 1, 201214 yr I was the designer for Flight Unlimited III, and yes, I am with you... I have that feeling too about the release of Flight, maybe it will be something great...so far I like it but haven't had time to fly it yet... but looking briefly at it I kind of must say "wow"..... Not a free demo and then getting charged $20 for each of the thousands of pieces they cut out. What's the point?Aside from some slight graphical advances on an incredibly tiny part of the earth, FLIGHT does nothing FSX doesn't do and FSX does astronomically more.I'm frankly a little shocked that anyone thought taking such a huge step backwards compared to the previous incarnation was a good idea.
