  1. no 3d cockpit! arrrggghhh! why not? I am sorry, but I AM upset that almost no one makes 3D cockpits for X-Plane, unless it's a commercial add-on. Why not? 3D is the only way to realistically put you at the controls of any airplane. Period. The real pilot's eye perspective can NOT NEVER be had from a 2d Panel .... facts of life!
  2. I am hoping to get this 787 soon, I am surprised it's not getting more attention. It's one awesome looking machine I must say! I dragged my wife to Boston Logan recently just to watch the JAL one land over our heads at 200 feet on final.... I have not seen one in real life while flying the Beechjet.
  3. got it working... I didn't realize it was not a drive until another friend of mine helped me.... all is well now got it running XP!
  4. ...with no instructions. I did download the drivers from the link on Laminar X-Plane web site, yet no instructions. I was going to run the exe that came in it after selecting the windows directory, but paused when it says installing some runtime drivers... is that okay? meanwhile the usb stick is not recognized by the pc... no messages, just nothing I think... what do I do here? figured someone here ought to know... thanks, peter
  5. removing the runway skidmark related effects file from the effects folder may be the old topic that came up a while ago... but that may have been just while on the ground slowing down or braking....
  6. I have made the switch ... albeit part time.... but have been enjoying XP now for months, and really almost exclusively. What did it for me was the extremely realistic scenery when it comes to terrain modeling and forest / tree locations.... way closer to real life than FSX. And, you get the whole world like this... no other sim has great default Caribbean Islands, or remote Pacific islands too... FSX has none....I like the real weather modeling too, overall smoothness (expcept moutains are hard on framerates)... and reliability. I can only enjoy flying it with either it's default 744, or the payware add-ons I bought.... with good VC modeling.... however, sadly, most free addon aircraft aren't great, and none have VC! So, it's good and bad.... too sensitive too on controls, but over time you get used to it... but the graphics are always sharp, crisp and great looking..... worth having that and FSX in my world!
  7. I am exactly as you... MS FS loyalist for 25 + years. X-Plane 10 has so much impressed me now with the purchases of the Canadair 300, 787 Dreamliner and the super awesome Jrollon CRJ-200... I have not gone back to FSX in 2 months! Just a little because I miss my PMDG NGX..but X-Plane with a Commercial Addon is very very satisfying! Some parts are better than FSX, many are not, but the crisp graphics, smooth flying, detailed feeling of scenery, amazing real terrain worldwide (that's a big one for me, as some little island in the pacific is as good as the USA), plus easy add-on scenery that is really sharp .... I love it now!
  8. anyone here use the pilotview plugin? I do, and love it, only thing close to ezdok that we use for FSX. I can program the views etc... to use in the 3d cockpits but do not know what the vibrational effects panel does or not do.... no matter what values I put in, I really don't see any differences.. .I know the vibrations come out for engine power and you can toggle to deactivate the effect in the air which mimicks a type of ground vibration... but is there any real ground vibration effects that I am missing? Is that what the effects panel is for that I really am not sure how to work?
  9. There was a thread somewhere recently where someone wanted laptop advice from simmers. And, as usual most people jump all over them for even thinking of such. Most feel you can not run FS well on any laptop. FARTHER from the truth. My aging slightly Sager NP9280 was once the world's most powerful gaming laptop with a full desktop i7 inside. It rocks. And, still does...running FSX greatly as well as PMDG NGX. you just must tweak FSX a bit, as you would on any machine, desktop or not. Anyone wanting a great gaming laptop, GET a SAGER (sagernotebook.com) or order from www.xoticpc.com where I got mine 3 years ago. don't let the naysayers get you..... I fly a real jet that has me in hotels all the time, and allows me to have my hobby... laptop only. It works! Sure, spending $2500 on a giant desktop now with all the latest hardware will be best, but some don't have that option... and for a budget you can get a used gaming laptop now for way less (around $1000) that will run FSX greatly. Anyone need help ...feel free to let me know... I have been using laptops as my exclusive flying rigs for 6+ years now... Peter
  10. i am running 301.24 drivers for my GTX280M with great results using the new 1/2 vsync built in option and limiting within FSX to 30 as Word Not Allowed and others have said to do.... should I bother upgrading again to another driver? I was still amazed the 301.24 were available for my aging 280M but they worked awesome...
  11. My fav for FSX is the Flight 1 Mustang.... the Eaglesoft CX is beautiful, but FR perfromance is very jerky and horrible ... the framerate can not even come close or as steady as the PMDG NGX is! And it's much older, but not smooth running. I find it unusable honestly...too bad.
  12. As a recent poster loving the new XP10, I do realize the CRJ by Rollon is the BEST flight model of any airplane to date, at least for transport jets. Flying the Beechjet in real life, and having thousands of hours in that airplane, as well as many more as a simmer, the CRJ has made me into the XP10 advocate I am now today. Too twitchy, and stability issues are XP problems... I miss FSX for the more stable feel. However, with the massive lists of plusses I see in XP10, I can live with the twitchiness and touchiness for now, hoping it will get fixed soon. Yet, the realisim of the CRJ, has me forgetting I'm in XP ... more like the FSX add-ons I have... and the smoothness, and great graphics still amazes me!
  13. is SO GOOD .... ever since upgrading my video card drivers, it has opened up a new world to me. I am over the initial hump and full fledged into XP10. I have not used FSX since then! I am not giving up on FSX, not at all, and look forward to trying it again soon - however, with my recent purchases for XP10, being the 787, CL300 and now the amazing CRJ at 50% off the price this week - all I can say is I am so stunned at the realism, fidelity and wow factor - so much like real life, I dunno when I'll be flying FSX. See, to me, it's the smoothness, combined with so much scenery, detailed cockpits and now, good airplanes that I am smitten. I have had not one lockup, crash or hang with XP. I can fly for 12 hours on some large trip, and it's still working when I wake up! FSX was always a worry! I am wanting to do a big review, but can't stop flying long enough to do it! haha
  14. this is an amazing aircraft, an experience I have yet to have on FSX!
  15. I just bought the CRJ the other day and I am stunned! It is SO realistic I can not believe this is X-Plane! I'll be posting more soon... but the CRJ is very much like the Beechjet I fly in real life, same avionics, FMS etc!! I can say this is GREAT!!! And use a plugin like pilotview to make views.... I have not gone back to FSX in a month!!! it's that good!
  16. I am enjoying it all now with the 787 I bought and currently flying Europe - despite my angst over the default sound system being such a joke overall.... it's 15 years old! Come' on Austin fix that up!
  17. Hi all, after recently leaving X-Plane 10 alone due to poor frame rates etc.... I recently updated my GTX 280M 's video drivers to the latest beta drivers on Nvidia in order to use the new adaptive refresh rate settings for FSX... and wow... the new drivers make X-Plane 10 perform fantastic!! Now with the details turned up once again, my 1st commercial addon (the 787) I am rarin' to go!! Glad to be back and ready to explore!
  18. I have been testing various setups with the FSX.cfg to better my performance etc... as everyone does and I have noticed with the PMDG NGX whether or not my fsx.cfg has ANY tweaks (standard untouched fsx.cfg newly created), or tweaks from the automated tweaking tool by Bjote or ******* etc.... or by following any other late tweaking threads.... 1) the NGX performance is great initally sitting on a runway, scenery sliders don't matter - after just about 5 minutes the FR drops about 25% and stays there! I can go from about 37 unlocked to 24 unlocked..... or from locked 30, to locked 18. Again after weeks of fiddling, letting FSX just sit running with the NGX on a runway etc... after 5 minutes no matter what tweaks were or were not applied, it's all the same, most aggravating. Any one else know what this is all about?
  19. I have installed Nhancer for my GTX280M to help out FSX (which it does certainly)... however after I did that a while back I noticed that perf. in FLIGHT tanked... is this to be expected? FLIGHT used to be butter smooth but now banking the plane makes the graphics not fluid, choppy as the horizon kind of feels like it's "flipping" or jerking in a bank.... Am I the only one? Nhancer be installed to run FLIGHT well? I won't do that cuz it's great for FSX.... certainly someone here runs Nhancer or Inspector and FLIGHT also right?

  21. thanks!! now for some ACJ models or repaints to go along with them
  22. what ctrl-# brings up the new panel or window that shows the moving map with TCAS / Terrain etc.. it is not in the readme or anything on how to activate this window?
  23. I use nvidia nhancer for FSX (works great etc.) ... yet now when I run Flight, the performance is aweful, even at low settings! I was running Flight great when it first came out ....before I installed nhancer... anyone else have this problem? Please don't say try Inspector ... I have an old GTX 280 M card, and must stay with the Nhancer for my older card... thanks!
  24. how do you pull up the moving map with the TCAS?
