May 21, 201214 yr Title says it all. I have been looking at the plethora of Citation I, II and X and Mustang available from Eaglesoft; Flight1 and various others, and also the VLJ from Lionheart.. I would like a medium-range (1200-1800NM) biz jet with a fair bit ofcargo- carrying ability (for Air hauler) and a good, well realised fully-working VC (I mean ALL of it!) I don't mind having to read a manual to get the thing in the air; I don't really want to spend >$49 for a semi-real rendition but don't mind paying it for modelling super-realism (not so bothered about how accurate to the last decimal place the flight model is, as I'll never fly one in RL, but really want fully working VC) Any ideas greatly appreciated. Any good group VLJ reviews anywhere? Thanks jake JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte

May 21, 201214 yr Author Nice, thanks Wayne. JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
May 21, 201214 yr I'd say the best so far is the Flight1 Mustang... but it's fairly slow in the biz jet range. Next to that is the Eaglesoft Citation X. An older plane but good systems and very fast! | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 21, 201214 yr Author Thanks Ryan Is that it? (not said in a IS THAT IT? way) The Eaglesoft ones (which look lovely) and the Flight1 Mustang? I'm not really "into" VLJ/Biz jets so have no idea what is actually in the RW marketplace, so don't even know where to start..I really want NGX-style realism.. When you (and everyone) says the Mustang is "slow" how slow is slow? Thanks again all JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
May 21, 201214 yr The closest to NGX is Flight1 Mustang, behind that ES Citation X... there really isn't anything else sorry. Trust me, I've been craving a PMDG style jet myself.... falcon/hawker/challenger etc.... nothing exists. Regarding speed... the mustang is very slow for something that flies so high. It usually does about 330-340 KTAS in the FL300 range... most larger jets will do 450 KTAS etc... | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 21, 201214 yr How about Feelthere's Embraer regional jet package? I reviewed their Legacy 600 years ago for AVSIM and found it to be quite well done. You can read the review here. Dr Zane Gard Sr Staff Reviewer AVSIM Private Pilot ASEL since 1986 IFR 2010 AOPA 00915027 American Mensa 100314888
May 21, 201214 yr The Xtreme prototypes 20 Series Lears are pretty good, although not a massive cargo capability for Air Hauler, and range might not be all you'd want it to be on the smaller variants, so keep an eye on that fuel gauge (speaking from an expensive AH experience here LOL). Quite a realistic simulation of the Lear 23 (i.e. hard to fly and quite hard to land well). Actually, if you have the standard FSX Lear 45 in AH (which is one of the starter options if you don't go hard core career), then the friendly Panels Bombardier LearJet 45 panel does quite a nice job of tarting it up both in the VC and the 2D panels to make it more realistic, including adding an FMC. Not a bad upgrade for about ten quid: http://secure.simmar...-45-panel.phtml Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
May 21, 201214 yr Best most versatile Biz jet. Eaglesoft Citation X. If your not too concerned with range or speed. F1 Mustang. ArDee
May 21, 201214 yr Author ooh, nice one guys Thanks for the default panels tip, Alan..Good idea..i already own a Lear in one of my companies (went full career on both - got a cool billion and a fleet of C5's in my Oz company and still flying a 185 and Epic LT in the PNW-based career) And it's the lack of good panels in same that's got me here.. Think I'll go for the Mustang (300KTS is fast enough for me ) and the Citation X and possibly use that fantastic 30-day Flight1 money back guarantee on one of them - which, incidentally, is how my missus shops; she'll buy scary laods of stuff online; I'll come home, have a heart attack and be told it's all going back..Like I'm going to know (like I'm going to use the 30-day mbg :Big Grin: ) Many thanks guys..off shopping EDIT; Little bit confused: so, the F1 Mustang looks just like the ES CJ1+ I'm guessing they are a different plane? (yes, jake - the clue is in the name - duh) Are they similar? The Mustang looks a bit more "real" but I bet it eats CPU's for brekky..I won't ask anyone to compre as that would be unfair (I'm sure all of the devs are hereabouts; wouldn't want to put anyone out!) but has anyone got ES CJ1+ and likes it? EDIT AGAIN: Sorry, Zane I missed your post - Bit big for me..I've flown the FSX ones and tbh, for a bigger jet I like the NGX 736 - It handles amazin' and it is so well modelled..I'm really after the leetle jets, but thanks anyway JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
May 21, 201214 yr Author Ooh..those Xtreme Prototype 20 Series are nice. And cheap! $24 for three planes. Bargain :Big Grin: I bought the Mustang, btw. Awesome VC. Going to fly this for a bit and see about those Xtreme Proto birds.. Great info, folks! Thanks. JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
May 21, 201214 yr It's a great plane, Jake, and I trust that, with your rig, the frame rates are just fine, right? Wayne KlocknerUnited Virtual
May 22, 201214 yr Moderator The Cessna Mustang is a bit smaller than the CJ1+. The Mustang also has some very nice G1000 PFD and MFD as well. The CJ1+ has a fully-functional ProLine 21 system (PFD/MFD) as well as a full-feature Universal UNS-1F FMS. Fr. May 22, 201214 yr Author Bill: many thanks for that. I'm going to have a good look through the blurb on the CJ1+ tonight. And Wayne: I get great smoothness, thanks. I lock it all at 30 anyway, and at heavy pay-ware like FSDT KLAX or FlightBeam KSFO, I reckon I lose about 2-4 FPS using the Mustang over say the Epic (which isn't very hard on the system at all, as it uses default gauges.) At FL25, I get exactly the same rates as any other A/C (30) so once you're up, it seems to add no overhead at all. Still getting to grips with the AP and full features of the G1000 in the Mustang. I'm also most chuffed to see that, despite it being a Garmin simulated unit, I can still use my Navigraph subscription to update all of the SID/STARS etc. for the airport and WAAS functions (unlike another Garmin sim I could mention :cough: ) Great little plane...Very responsive, too. Feels like flying a very nimble, fast GA JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
May 22, 201214 yr but has anyone got ES CJ1+ and likes it? Hello I have the CJ1+, It has a very well done UNS-1F FMS and the systems are very nicely done. But I am disappointed that Eaglesoft are not going to implement the FADEC as promised and which is to be found in the real world counterpart, this is a major omission and spoiled the realism for me The VC is functional but graphically not at the level of the F1 Mustang or even the earlier Eaglesoft CX 750. The quality of the VC texturing does not bother me as I am more interested in the systems so the missing FADEC means I rarely fly it any more.
