April 24, 201214 yr Hi all, after recently leaving X-Plane 10 alone due to poor frame rates etc.... I recently updated my GTX 280M 's video drivers to the latest beta drivers on Nvidia in order to use the new adaptive refresh rate settings for FSX... and wow... the new drivers make X-Plane 10 perform fantastic!! Now with the details turned up once again, my 1st commercial addon (the 787) I am rarin' to go!! Glad to be back and ready to explore! April 24, 201214 yr Nice to know... I just built a new rig too, i5 2500 with a GT450, and gave xplane10 yet another try... This turn around it did run smoothly under most circumstances. Yet, I decided not to buy it yet simply because I have to keep my "investment" in flight simulation very limited, and FLIGHT is now my main focus of attention... Nonetheless I do consider that Xplane10, particularly after being made availabe in 64 bit version, will have a bright future. There are lots of freeware and payware add-ons for Xplane10 that can make the platform really worth the try. Some aspects of Xplane's FM really need attention from the devs, but, it's an ongoing project as opposed to FSX. Presently I see no point on Prepar3D, although things may change in the future.... For an Open platform, with GREAT POTENTIAL, I allways recommend Flight Gear. Version 2.7 will be released in about 1 month, I believe... OTOH, having been a project manager/designer for what I still consider to be probably the most rewarding GA flight simulator ever made available - FU3 - and having travelled a long way up to where you are now, you really could contribute to the Xplane10 cause designing/helping in design of a great Stemme project, or even one of the Regional Jets you fly for real ;-) Your experience would prove invaluable!!! And, BTW, if you ever get to be rich, make FLIGHT UNLIMITED 4 happen Puleeeeeeeeeze !!!! April 24, 201214 yr Hi all, after recently leaving X-Plane 10 alone due to poor frame rates etc.... I recently updated my GTX 280M 's video drivers to the latest beta drivers on Nvidia in order to use the new adaptive refresh rate settings for FSX... I'm as well back to x-plane now. Can't get the frame rate as high as I would like with my PC but I'm simply running it exactly the same way as our multi million dollar 767 sim. Almost no buildings, minimum streets, no AI. That way the frame rate is very high and like in the 'real' sim, if you concentrate on the flying part you aren't missing the 'scenery' at all
April 24, 201214 yr I'm into X-Plane too. I really would like someone to point me in the direction of high quality photo/real scenery. I'm not satisfied Flight is the product for me, and I can't be bothered fiddling around with FSX to get decent FPS or acceptable graphics!! April 24, 201214 yr Welcome back Peter! Im going through X-plane withdrawal right now. I have this horrible home improvement project going on and Im just not able to find the time to fly in the last 2 weeks. Hopefully this weekend Ill get a chance to fire it up again. Rob
April 27, 201214 yr I have stopped using XP10 for now as whenever I choose real weather my Bonanza bobbles about like a toy dangling on a string if the wind is greater than a few knots... Also a little frustrated by the AI system and miss "MyTraffic X"-levels of traffic at airports. I guess one day LR might do something about that but rather surprised the weather hasn't been sorted yet.
April 27, 201214 yr Author I am enjoying it all now with the 787 I bought and currently flying Europe - despite my angst over the default sound system being such a joke overall.... it's 15 years old! Come' on Austin fix that up!
