My initial thoughts in chronological order

Ok, got it (no DLC yet). These are the first things that came to mind, in chronological order.- Awesome performance!!! Yes! Finally!!! This alone makes me almost want to uninstall FSX right away if it wasn't for the PMDG 737NGX. Wow!- Shoot... can I get used to no Track IR...?- Wow, autogen as far as the eye can see!- Look at those shadows on the ground! The sun still isn't shining as it does in real life though... but it's better. A bit better.- Seems anisotropic filtering isn't working too well... or is the LOD radius a bit low? The airport I am approaching looks low res.- Darn, I want my Track IR...- O, bummer, shadows seem to be limited to airports only or something like that? That city doesn't look as good as I hoped... no shadows, would have liked a lot more houses.- Hm, bummer, still roads cuttings through houses and all...- I love the trees!!! Lots of them!- Boy, when will they implement Track IR?- There is a bit of shimmer in the water reflections. Seems not everything is reflected too?- O dear, did I see a texture loading there underneath my plane...? O no...- Performance is awesome considering what I am seeing on my screen, but I do get a stutter every now and then. But it's nothing compared to FSX.- I also could use EZdok, I have to say. It takes ages to change the view in the VC and when you want to get beck to default (backspace) all the work on that view is lost and you have to do it all again later on... Makes looking closely at some switches a no go... I want my Track IR!- I got to get that DLC because the Stearman VC blocks the view completely and the Icon... er... nice gadgets, but I want a real plane. Hopefully the RV will have some more shadowing in the VC because I didn't notice much shadows in the Stearman.- Pity I can't change the weather or time of day during a flight... No big deal, though.- Ok, let's see if I can score some Live points online for less money...To be continued.

LOLOLOL! :LMAO: Your mind sort of works like mine does. I can't fly without my Track IR and keep grumbling about it to myself as well. It's a start, that is what Flight is; a start for new starters, or a start of the end, or a start for what could be a great simulation platform, whatever...Meanwhile, it really is fun to fly in really bad weather with the trees waving in the wind and spume flying by.Kind regards,

J van E,I rarely seem to see 'eye to eye' with your views on this forum, and often the way you choose to present them. But I have to say that I agree with your whole summary of Flight (good and bad, and particularly around TrackIR!), to the degree that it is almost as if I had written that post myself.Good summing up of where we are with FlightCheers..

Love the "review" - and agree completely..Do another one, once you get the Hawaii pack (includes the RV) installed, that makes a big difference!

Wow, autogen as far as the eye can see!
You think?I don't know about you, but I see autogen in both FSX and Flight out to about the same point. (Flight has more trees) The problem with FSX is it pops additional AG close in as you fly, Where Flight doesn't. The problem with Flight (and this may be a bug) is AG won't start populating beyond that point, until you almost reach the where the perimeter of it currently is (I hope that makes sense.)FlightFSX

Oh my... Yes, it's a start. Lots of things to get used to...

Cheers, Stick!!! ^_^Part 2 (though I don't have too much time unfortunately...)- Let's get that DLC. Bummer, have to change the credit card information... Darned, the site doesn't work. Google, grumble, google once more. I thought GFWL would be easy... Shoot. Where the ^&@%! can I update my account... Ah, at last, got it. Sigh... I want to fly instead having to deal with not-working MS sites...- DLC is downloading, will be a while, let's do the Stearman introduction.- Like the checklists! Nice!- Ok, that ship does reflect in the water: cool. And performance is still great!!!- I like how the trees look and how they fit well on the ground textures!- Why do I always slide sideways when I want to look around and why do I always look around when I want to slide...? Can't get used to the mouse look.- DLC is ready! Let's jump into the RV!!! Going to start in mid-air. Which can be nice... Let 's load some cloudy weather.- Twitchy plane... and why can't I move forward? I can only zoom in! I want to move forward! Having those working gauges is nice but what's the use if you can't see them when you are sitting so far back? The default view in the Stearman was okay, but the default view in the RV is way too far from the panel... I am used to sitting with my nose closer to the panel...- Can't say I like those constantly shimmering VC-shadows: they look low res and move all the time. I expected something better, really. I even find it disappointing, really... The sun simply isn't shining as much as I hoped.- Wow, that weather looks good! The heavy clouds look a lot better then the fair weather ones! Great atmosphere!- Ah, you CAN change the weather during flights! When you go to the map (with M) you are at the main menu but unlike in FSX you can return to the flight again without any problems! Like that!- Hm, I really would like to sit closer to the panel... I can't see a thing! And zooming in sucks. I'll say it one more time: I want my Track IR! And throw in EZdok while you're at it.- Er... no GPS... how am I going to find the airport I want to land on...? Do I really have to go to the map to see where I am and repeat that everytime? Let's try Shift-3... no, of course not. No GPS... Hm... I am so used to flying with GPS. It didn't even cross my mind the RV might not have one... How am I going to find those other island I bought now...?- Good grieve, heavy winds, bad weather, how am I going to get that plane down... Nice challenge! Like it!Landed safely. Well... I love the performance, I love most of the graphics, but there is a lot to get used to. I do miss all kinds of things. Obviously. But I miss them more then expected. As it is now this really is a 'jump in and simply fly it' game. Move the joystick around and that's about it. I can't even read the freakin' gauges because they are too far away and moving around is cumbersome compared to FSX with Track IR and Ezdok. The VC might as well have nothing working... But I still have high hopes for the game! If at least a few things are added it will be a great GA/sightseeing game! Performance is too good to pass so I will continue to use MS Flight and I will probably get used more and more to everything. All in all I am thrilled about a few things but disappointed about some others. Ah well, that's life... I think I am going to give the Icon another try. At least I can read the guages in that one. What I miss most is Track IR support, though. Can't understand it isn't supported.
- O dear, did I see a texture loading there underneath my plane...? O no...
Flight renders pretty much the same as FSX does. Autogen and scenery objects start first and if they eat up a fair share of the rendering loop that will cut down on the time for drawing in the different levels of texture and mesh clarity. As with FSX, the user has to determine what their preference is and adjust accordingly. I can fly the other seven islands at a high level, but if I'm wanting to fly O'ahu I need to turn a couple of settings down, as I prefer sharp textures to trees and houses.

The keyboard plus and minus key will move you closer or further away to the gauges.
