MS FLIGHT WOW...REALLY?

Featured Replies

This post is the opinion of myself and in no way reflects the feelings or views of AVSIM or their forum. I am just expressing my personal views of MS FLIGHT and my personal experience with the new game.Well I just downloaded the new MS Flight and gave it a whirl, WOW What a disappointment!!! I don't know if it was tauted to be the next great flight sim or not but Its not. Set all settings to max and it looks like well lets just say not good. It is not a flight sim at all it is an arcade game for kids at best. So Glad I did not have to pay for it up front I would have been really mad. I guess let the kiddies... play with that and us real simmers can stick to FSX! I mean really MS you could have spent have the time and money that you spent on Flight and fixed a ton of issues with FSX and made it even better. Well I guess the 5 to 12 year old demographic needed a flying game and now they have one in MS Flight!

Careful! You get pummelled for making those kind of statements around here. But [whispers], I couldn't agree with you more. When the Flight supporters come running, it's every man for himself.

I disagree. The 5 to 12 year old kids won't play it because you can't blow anything up.How do you get to free flight? Where is the Maule? Do you have to complete silly 'fly around the hot air balloons' mission to get control of a plane and situation? Thanks.Bob

I don't know why they would pummel me ,I am not trashing anything or anyone here just making a first had review and calling a spade a spade. It's not a Flight sim it is an arcade game for children thats the truth. If I can't state my adult opinion to my fellow adult flight simmers on a flight sim forum then I don't care to be a part of said forum! I am basing my comments on my first hand experience of playing the game and it is a game thats how it looks and feels. I just hope MS is smart enough to start marketing to the gamer demographic and run some TV and print adds for a cartridge game to stick into your X-BOX or PS3. I am very disappointed because they left all of us real simmers out to dry with this slap in the face. Like I said above for half the time and money spent they could have fixed many issues with FSX and made it even better, So hopefully once they make their millions and millions of bucks from this new X-BOX game they will remember all of us serious simmers and return the favor for all of us who have spent millions of bucks on FS9/FSX and fix some issues and make our experience better. thats all I am saying.. So please don't trash anyone on this thread if you wish to leave a comment feel free to express your opinion but do it in a mature manner. Thanks, FSA

Okay. You've all stated your points of view. Although I happen to disagree, I support fully your right to state your opinions and impressions. Once. Why not simply ignore the Flight Forum entirely now? It isn't your cup of tea, you're dissapointed and have stated so now. Really, was it necessary for one poster to simply copy/paste his entire screed in multiple threads?Enough already.

I don't think it's illogical to assume that MS is keeping a finger on the pulse of these reactions. The more we speak up, the more likely MS is to wake up and stop ignoring an entire market segment--regardless of how small we are compared to the target audience (which is seemingly broad enough to include my cat).

I'm not in your perceived marketing age for Flight and I like it.I'm not so hung up on a computer game that I need to develop or use some type of elistist title to justify my involvement or level of expenditure. I play the game, be it FSX or Flight, because I want to be entertained. Being entertained comes in different shapes and sizes. If something doesn't fit within my definition of being serious about being entertained, that's OK. I don't run around and post negative comments about those that fly large airplanes, controlled by an onboard computer 1 minute after takeoff to two minutes before landing. I don't start the game and then use the "R and Plus" keys to get me to my destination at 4x or 8x speeds, but others do and that's OK.I do enjoy a leisurely flight in and around the islands, both in FSX and Flight. I am of the opinion that Flight offers a more realistic fantasy for me than any of the previous versions of the game. And it can only get better, which at the core level, cannot be said about FSX. And let's be honest here, isn't involvement for 99% of the users really some type of fantasy?Don't like it? Delete it! But I believe a lot of people who may want to post "non-complimentary" comments about Flight and where it is at today, will somewhere down the road (or airway) be signing it's virtues.

Even if that were true, irrespective of how many times one individual votes "no," it will only count as one vote. Honestly, I can't even keep up with the seven forums I regularlly participate in, so how would even one or two MS employees hope to "keep up?" That's a very disengenous argument to support continued repetition of the same old complaints ad naseaum.
Sorry, I did it because someone deleted my original post and I become angry by that. I only was telling my opinion. This censure is silly!
Take your "anger" elsewhere then, as it is not welcome here.

Do you have to complete silly 'fly around the hot air balloons' mission to get control of a plane and situation?
Yes.Only have to do the first two missions once. Then it unlocks free flight. As an experienced flight simmer, it took me all of 5 mins to complete this. Would it have been better to put in an option to bypass it, sure, but it is not a deal killer.OP - respect your opinion, but it is not a review. You state "It is not a flight sim at all it is an arcade game for kids at best" How about some details to support it. "opinions are like wrist watches.. everyone's watch shows a different time from others, but everyone believes that their time is correct."

I don't know how many times I have to repeat myself. I will do so one more time and then I am closing this thread ... MS (Joshua H.) has said without equivocation that they know that there are simmers who are not going to like FLIGHT. They know they are not satisfying everyone with this release. They know what your "reactions" have been and are now - they are reading these forums just like you. They haven't "ignored" you... They just chose to do what they had to do in spite of your opinion, and guess what? They will continue to do so. So, get over it already! You are wasting your time and our bandwidth. Leave this forum to those that do not have to continuously bleat about how MS screwed them or that by continually posting here you are going to somehow miraculously change MS' mind. It ain't going to happen. Now let the rest of the community get on with enjoying and understanding what this product has to offer. Move on...
