I read an article that was saying when MS disbanded the Aces team, Lockheed/Martin hired them and they are responsible for the new Prepar3d. And that is what FSXI would have been and or now is But is made by LM instead of MS?

I don't understand why you would say this is a worrying business model? You honestly don't think that MS Thought they would see an increase in FSX sales eventually after releasing a very cool flying video game marketed to the gamer demographic. Of course they did! almost all good video games have a part 2,3,4 and so on and they sometimes sell more units than the original why? because the people that are into it want to be challenged more and more. Same with Flight the ones that really get hooked on it will get bored with flying in that one lonely area and they will end up purchasing all of the al a carte add-on areas all the while learning how to fly it is an advanced video game after all. then at some point they will want an even bigger more realistic challenge, and thats when they will purchase FSX. Then they will start purchasing FSX add-ons then some will eventually book a discovery flight one weekend. Once you fly a real plane then you really get serious about FSX thats when you have to have PMDG aircraft and everything as real as it can be I mean lets face it if you did not decide that you wanted to be an airline pilot in your college days you may still get your PPL and fly cessnas or maybe even get type rated in a single pilot light jet one day but you will never fly a real 737 or 747 or A-380 FSX is the only way you will ever be able to live out that fantasy and when you do you want it as real as it can be. And thats what FSX is to a lot of people in the flight sim community the only way most of us will ever fly big iron. And FSX is a great training tool as well a lot of real world pilots use FSX to practice failures that they can't do and don't want to have to do in real life. So if Flight gets people into flying and they move into an even more realistic virtual world of flight (FSX) and sells go up for all of the companys making add-ons for FSX and then some go into the real world of flight, that sounds like a great business model to me and a huge win overall for the aviation community as a whole simulated and real world!!

As you can see from the title of this post I was not happy with Flight when it released. Due to a couple of mistakes on my part, first in assumming that is was going to be FSXI. That it is not, My second mistake was comparing the two and you can't FSX is a "As real as it gets" real world flight simulator, and Flight is a video game that will hopefully lead many new people to enjoy FSX as many of us do now.So why the change of heart? I'll tell you why. My grandsons 10 and 12 cannot get enough of Flight, They have assummed control of my desktop and laptop because of course they both want to fly at the same time.Glad I kept that old joystick after all.No longer do I hear the sounds of gunfire and explosions and people getting shot and killed and them laughing about it. Now all they want to do is fly, and with only two days on Flight they both can land the little boatplane on the water and on a runway.Lastnight the 12 year old actually landed the 172 at LSZH in FSX all by himself minus a little verbal help from me, It wasn't down the zipper or very pretty for that matter but he didn't crash and as we all know any landing you can walk away from is a good landing...lol they both are asking me about pitch roll and yaw without knowing thats what they were asking but now they do know what it is. And when I get a chance to fire up FSX and fly myself ( not so much the last two days) they are both sitting beside me asking all kinds of questions.So for that and them not so interested in shooting and blowing people up this week I have to send out a big THANK YOU to MS. I guess if they are still into Flight in a couple of weeks and I don't see that changing anytime soon I will unlock Hawaii for them (still don't care for the al a carte deal) Just release the thing for 60 bucks and be done with it already. Actually PLEASE release the game on a disc they can stick in their X-Box's so I can have my computer back...lol. Again Flight is not for me personally and I will always have FSX so I don't have to like it for me but for opening up a starting point for future FSX simmers, building a brigde between the two and instilling an interest in flying in my boys I have to say thank you MS Job well done, Maybe you did know what you were doing after all. In closing I would like to say On the success of Flight would you guys at MS pretty please at least think about putting out an SP3 for FSX, Having a few hundred thousand more very happy customers can't be a bad thing, Sincerely, James

Really nice shots!! The plane looks amazing! I wouldn't mind having that in FSX. I agree with you 100 % I have said all along since I tried out Flight myself, Very nice flying video game but really not a sim. And not for the hardcore guys at all, but fun none the less.

I love the way the cat that wrote the review says he is happy that MS stuck it the FSX community because it doesn't have big iron and vatsim ** coming out of there arse (his words). Real positive banter from him guys. What an a**hole!! Avsim closes and bans any thread with negative context about MS Flight but this guy is revered on here for his negative remarks about the hardcore simmer???? Look there are casual simmers and hardcore simmers neither one wrong for being what they are. Having said that MS Flight is for the casual simmer hop in push up the throttle pull back on the stick and your flying around. And thats great I hope MS sells millions of copies of the game and the millions that buy it have loads of fun and I hope it gets more people into flying it's an easy way in no learning curve and as they get better in Flight might just bring more people to FSX and hardcore simming. I have noticed while reading a lot of these post that the discontent flows freely both ways not all one-sided as it is made out to be. Most hardcore FSX guys are not going to like Flight and thats ok we were hoping for FSXI. But they should not be censored by one-sided forum mods, It is a forum to discuss all things flight sim related period. If the hardcore guys feel a little slighted thats their prerogitive. Bottom line, It has been expressed by the hardcore FSX simmers in many ways some negative and jabbing at Flight in these forums that we're not happy with Flight. But I think if you take away all the jabs and negativity all we are really trying to say is Now that there is a brand new sim for the casual market we FSX guys hope that maybe MS could re-visit FSX and at least put out a SP-3 if not FSXI It's been a long time coming and way overdue! I don't know why they would pummel me ,I am not trashing anything or anyone here just making a first had review and calling a spade a spade. It's not a Flight sim it is an arcade game for children thats the truth. If I can't state my adult opinion to my fellow adult flight simmers on a flight sim forum then I don't care to be a part of said forum! I am basing my comments on my first hand experience of playing the game and it is a game thats how it looks and feels. I just hope MS is smart enough to start marketing to the gamer demographic and run some TV and print adds for a cartridge game to stick into your X-BOX or PS3. I am very disappointed because they left all of us real simmers out to dry with this slap in the face. Like I said above for half the time and money spent they could have fixed many issues with FSX and made it even better, So hopefully once they make their millions and millions of bucks from this new X-BOX game they will remember all of us serious simmers and return the favor for all of us who have spent millions of bucks on FS9/FSX and fix some issues and make our experience better. thats all I am saying.. I am just expressing my personal views of MS FLIGHT and my personal experience with the new game.Well I just downloaded the new MS Flight and gave it a whirl, WOW What a disappointment!!! I don't know if it was tauted to be the next great flight sim or not but Its not. Set all settings to max and it looks like well lets just say not good. It is not a flight sim at all it is an arcade game for kids at best. So Glad I did not have to pay for it up front I would have been really mad. I guess let the kiddies... play with that and us real simmers can stick to FSX! I mean really MS you could have spent have the time and money that you spent on Flight and fixed a ton of issues with FSX and made it even better. Well I guess the 5 to 12 year old demographic needed a flying game and now they have one in MS Flight!
