March 2, 201214 yr Hi everyone,While I am a true hardcore simulation fan and love FSX, I am eager to try Flight. My computer that runs FS and now, hopefully, Flight, for some reason, is very inconsistent with the internet connection in my apartment. Some stretches of days and weeks it can connect, but other stretches of time, like right now, it cannot connect to the internet for weeks. As a result of this problem, I downloaded the installer from my other computer (which has a solid connection) and used a flash drive to bring it to the FS one. Once running the installer, I realized that the installer downloads the game from online... In other words, I cannot download nor play Flight because my FS computer is not working with my internet. Is there a way to install Flight without using the internet on the computer that it will be used on? Take the FSDT sceneries for example. I can download the installer on computer #2 and then use a flash drive to put it onto the FS computer. I can then run the installer and there is no need for the internet on the FS computer. Is there any way to do the same for Flight? Download ALL necessary files on computer #2 and bring them over via flash drive to FS computer? Thanks for all suggestions Best regards, happy flying, Wallace
March 2, 201214 yr Hi,Not at the moment I don't think. I think the only way to install Flight is through the Games For Windows Live system which requires an Internet connection. March 2, 201214 yr I have read some people have downloaded and saved the full installer, then unpacked it and ran Setup from there. Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
March 2, 201214 yr Moderator There is one alternative, and that is to use an external hard drive. Install Flight to that, and then move it over to your flightsim computer. At least one other person has done just that and reported that it worked splendidly......and he used an external USB drive! :Peace: Fr. March 2, 201214 yr Author Thanks for the replies,That sounds good, I have an external (USB) hard drive and I would try that but the computer (which I stupidly forgot to mention in my original post) that gets the internet is a Mac... So I am not quite sure how I could pull that off. Thinking about it, it seems that the most logical way to do it would be to use that external hard drive idea and install it to that from my friends computer (a PC).Thanks for the helpBest regards Edited March 2, 201214 yr by theshack440 Best regards, happy flying, Wallace
March 2, 201214 yr Moderator As long as you log in from your friends PC using your LIVE account information, you should be golden! Why is your internet to your flightsim PC so flakey though? Is your router going south on you? Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
